You make it sound like they got paid £0 in wages for the entire season when in reality they played 3 or 4 games at the start of the season for nothing before signing contracts.

 

Don't get me wrong it was a good thing to do but they certainly weren't better free transfers than Fuchs, Albrighton or Nugent or whoever because of that.

Albrighton and Fuchs for sure. But if this was a value for money thread the result would be different. They were free yes, but not the best value for money ever. Past and present we have had some unbelievable bargains!

Fair point but Albrighton and Fuchs were pivotal in the title win and Albrighton scored our first ever champions league goal, plus the winner against Sevilla. I loved Nuge and he was a huge part of our promotion but Albrighton and Fuchs for me.

A tie between Fuchs and Albrighton. We have had some other good ones but in terms of contribution it would be hard to look anywhere past these two. Cambiasso was a great player, but nearing the end of his career, stayed one season then moved on. Marc and Christian have been mainstays of the squad for several years and its not often that you get those types of player on a free
