Our best free transfer signing?

Has there been a better free transfer in than Christian  Fuchs? I am struggling to think of one; the contribution he has made to our success since he signed in 2015 has been invaluable- - and was our best player today.

 

Any other ideas?

I suppose it depends what criteria you use, but Fuchs has a lot in favour of him. Albrighton has also been tremendous value, both as a player and good squad member. Wasn't Cambiasso free? That was slightly good value.

Honorable mention for Nugent. Different time in our history, but hugely influential in getting us to the prem in the first place.

Don't think so. Think a few million to make the loan permanent.

We paid a few million for Huth. 3 million I think. 
 

Pretty nuts to think that back four that won the league cost about 5 million in total.

Fuchs and Albrighton beyond any doubt. How can you knock what they've accomplished here? Not to mention they're still knocking on the door for regular football yet big money signings, have failed (Slimani, Musa, Silva).

I'm surprised no one has said Gerry Taggart yet.

 

Think Fuchs and Albrighton are probably the best but Taggart certainly pushes them close.

Think Albrighton for me. Fuchs has been great no doubt and is a close second but Albrighton was a major reason why we stayed up in 2014/15 and pivotal in our title win in 2015/16

In terms of value for money it's Nicky Summerbee and Billy McKinlay all day for me.

 

Signed for free & played for free. Both with pivotal roles in a side that finished 2nd in the Championship on 92 points.
