Hear me out...!

This is a tough side to break down, gets important fringe players vital match fitness, tests a new formation with a large number of first teamers experiencing it, whilst allowing some potential game changers - Barnes, Vardy...(that's about it) to join in nearer the end.

Well exactly, so it wasn't just Brighton and Watford, we're not finding ways to get Vardy into the game more no matter who we're playing. We need to be more inventive, have more movement, move quicker up the pitch and take more risks going forward like we were earlier in the season.

We seems to have lost out 'bottle' since the Norwich game.

It's hard to have effective movement around a striker like Vardy in a possession system if the opposing teams sit back though. He isn't fantastic at getting himself involved in a game, you have to get him involved, and when he's sat between two centrebacks and the whole opposing team is between him and the ball, it's tough to get him involved. Rodgers is encountering the same issue as Puel, essentially trying to get the ball forward with 9 outfield players against 10.

When we aren't at peak fitness, we can't push forward with possession as aggressively as we did earlier in the season because our pressing isn't as good, so we end up in situations like this where all a team has to do is put a decent low block in and have some well drilled pressing, and we have serious issues. I think the problem will solve itself somewhat as we get into the groove of things more. Whether it will come too late is another story.

On the positive side, I think that teams that do try to play against us without sitting back will have a much tougher time even now (unless it's Man City or Liverpool), because we will be able to actually counter if Vardy consistently has space to run into.

We have been very evenly matched against Chelsea in recent years, this will be a much better performance from us but no idea what the end result will be, probably a draw at full time and then what?

The short turnaround is going to be hard for Chelsea.

...I think you will find it will have little bearing on the game!!

Just take a look at previous games where we mostly believed we would gain an advantage  by having a longer rest period. It will make no difference, if anything they will have the bigger share of possession and not be as leggy at the end.

Tielemans stifles himself. I seriously wonder what so many of you have seen from Youri this season that keeps getting this reaction. Treacleman  has been a serious letdown after last season. I just want to see Tielemans pass the ball forward to Vardy or Nacho and not sideways or backwards. I'm happy to blame Brendan instead of Youri though if you want.

Still whoever we play out of Maddison,Tielemans and  Praet should be good enough they are all good players. Proof of the puding has shown us otherwise. Surely It's Praet's turn to blow it now. He hasn't put a foot wrong in the two games since lockdown.

2 d’s  in pudding... :jawdrop:

Of course it has a bearing, they have less time to prepare and recover.

In the league game at the Bridge possession was 50/50 and the King Power it was 49.7/50.3 so not sure wht you expect chelsea to have a bigger share of the possession.

...It is a theory!!

If you go back to games we played against teams  competing in Europe this season and the speculation that we would have an advantage having a longer rest period and it turned out they were not disadvantaged and were the superior team.

  It is a fallacy!!!

I can't remember us playing anyone the game after they played midweek in Europe.

Wolves played Europa League 8/8/19

We played them 11/08/ 19 - Draw

Liverpool Champ. League 02/10/19

We played them 05/10/19 - Lost

Arsenal Europa League 6/11/19

We played them 09/11/19 -won

So pretty much a mixed bag and a extra point at Liverpool without a dodge penalty.

I  wonder how  many goalsVardy  needs in a season to be playing all right. Nobody since the break has played well excluding Man C  and Palace .

Just because we haven't managed to exploit it, doesn't mean we haven't had an advantage.

I’d go full strength barring maybe a couple of exceptions. Maybe rest Evans who’s form is fine and maybe Ndidi but let’s get some of the other lads that have been playing a chance to find some form. Normally I’d want to rotate in these situations but I think this game gives us a chance to build up some momentum and confidence.

If he’s fit, I’d put Bennett in for this one. Protect Evans or Soyuncu for the remainder of the games. Maybe Fuchs for Chilly

..so not too fussed about the cup then!!!

Funny enough playing against Chelsea could give ourselves a chance to reset and be competitive again.

Wolves have looked good!

Chelsea were very decent!

Brighton 4 points from 2 difficult looking games?

Put the reserves out!.

Top 4 finish must be our priority.

After the Brighton shambles we've got no hope of beating Chelsea anyway.

Why does playing the reserves help us get top 4?

Bit obvious..

Rests our best players and protects them from our picking up injuries...3 games in 8 days after a 3 month break is asking for injuries to key players don't you think?

Well if that's all it's going to take, let's do it.

Struggling to get up for this with our league form and performances being so poor. It would just about sum things up right now if we finally make it to Wembley and we can’t even attend lol

I do think we’ll see a more positive performance from us though, with Chelsea coming here to try and win, it will leave spaces for an open, end to end game.
