Loud Blast reported in Paris

Must be something going on as planes not allowed to break sound barrier over land unless it is an emergancy.

Yeah, but an emergency can mean all sorts of things. Our rapid response jets are based in Coningsby and are always getting scrambled, but it's never actually anything serious.

"The blast was heard over the city"

Doesn't mean that it occurred there. An aircraft flying supersonic at say 50,000 feet can produce a sonic boom cone about 50 miles wide because the "boom carpet" is a mile for every thousand feet. Most likely a military exercise. It was immediately reported in Paris...because it's Paris. Be interesting to learn where else it was heard.

interesting. Are you suggesting the bang could have been caused by a sonic boom from an aircraft? :ph34r:lol
