He’s just signed a new contract, but let’s hope he hasn’t insisted on a release clause in that contract. If he has only signed on the condition that, for example, an £80m bid from a Champions League club will be accepted, we could have no control over this whatsoever........ Plus he's just signed a 5 year deal so his value will be 80m-100m and United won't spend on Sancho because Dortmund are asking for "too much". A release clause wouldn’t be active until after the first season of signing, be bloody ridiculous otherwise... giving we would have zero time to find a replacement. A release clause doesn't mean he's off anyway. The player can still opt to stay. Everyone at panic stations when transfer window closes tomorrow. A new 5yr deal + so close to transfer window closing would take a stupid bid for him to go. And as I said above they won't pay for Sancho so they ain't gonna bid the same for Maddison.
