You're virtually newly weds compared to me and Mrs. FFF.

Reminds me of a chat with some work colleagues that had turned into a discussion about how many different partners we had slept with. This chat even included a couple of women.

I kept quiet. 

If all their stories were true and could be equated into a league table, I would have been mathematically relegated by Christmas.

That said, I have a theory . 

Ask a male how many partners they've had and they'll double it.

Ask a female, and they'll halve it.

I don't think I have, certainly not knowingly. 

 

The article is very interesting, how streaming just narrows people's musical taste because the algorithm just gives them more of the same.

 

For me, that's just boring. I'm in my late 50s and I still want to hear new music over an array of genres.

 

It's also something I've noticed when watching Pointless. When they have rounds about music frequently present day songs and artist are obscure answers - they're not as well remembered as music from pre-streaming times and when music shows we're on free to air TV that everyone watched.

 

The internet should have opened up new worlds to everyone, but the commercialisation of it has resulted in fracturing people into groups who are just fed more of the same, be that music or, more concerningly, opinions.

I generally find the people that get obsessed with true crime cases and mysteries and act like they're entertainment a bit ghoulish and grim. Especially the conspiracy theorists that get ridiculously involved pulling at any tiny thread of rumour and thinking they're experts on what "really" happened. 

 

But if there's one case I absolutely did follow and was convinced by, it was that. 

 

The Italian police absolutely ****ed the case and weren't prepared for the scrutiny a pretty, privileged, American white girl kicking up a stink would bring to their investigation. No doubt about that. 

 

But she was ****ing definitely involved in Kercher's death.

I hadn't heard it. Gave it a listen and thought it very ordinary at best. On the plus side I have noticed some younger people appreciate music from artists from the past that they may never of heard of otherwise

I heard it on the radio the other week and recognized it was Sam Fender singing. When they said it was a record breaking No.1 I was like "really?" it's very bland. 

 

The reason is the charts these days are meaningless. No-one cares in the slightest what's at number 1 any more. No-one buys music singles and everyone just has streaming subscriptions.

Went for a country walk today. Walked through a village green where there is wooden bench donated in memory of a former villager. Some prat very recently has bearing in mind the hot weather has laid a disposal bbq which has burnt through the bench. Could have caused a fire and certainly ruined the bench.

Interesting how people can come to such different conclusions. I've read up on the case and am absolutely certain she was definitely not involved in Kercher's death.
