Not sure if anyone watched Newsnight yesterday but they had Brian May on a link up in Spain as he's an Astrophysics Phd. During the conversation he casually slipped in that he'd told Freddie that he can't travel at the speed of light 😁 No one in the BBC studio even noticed!

My wife's friend is a bit of an amateur astronomer and claims that this might not be shite, a bold claim.

Is this the one that came by a couple of years ago? I was in the middle of nowhere in west Dorset and stayed up as there was zero light pollution and thought I'd be in for a treat. There was also zero meteorites, absolute jokers

Well, that was underwhelming.

God.the Almighty He just teases us.

Everyone's DESPERATE to know when the next one is.

On balance I'd say that was just as crap as 1999

Meteor showers are, pun unintended, very hit and miss.

I used a colander in the end, it strained my eyes

That's done the rounds of the Internet more times than the earth has orbited the sun :P

You weren’t impressed ?

even if you didn’t had glasses (I can sell you a pair for 2080), the light was incredible.

The guy on the BBC stated that there's a new moon tonight as if it were a coincidence with the eclipse. No it's not - every solar eclipse coincides with a new moon!

The Perseid Meteor Shower happen the same time every year in August. The comet responsible, Swift Tuttle, only comes round once every 133 years.

The thing that annoyed me most about it was that on any clear night you'll see a couple of meteorites if you're patient enough to sit there enough for an hour or so. That night there were, if anything, less meteorites than usual

Yes. the light was impressive but I was expecting almost darkness and a stilling of the day, given all the hype.
