I think it’s more frustrating seeing him play like this,  he is obviously capable of doing things that progress the team. So why not play like this and make better decisions more often.

Yesterday should be the basics and standard for every game he plays. If not he can get back in the bin. Hopefully he feels some sense of pride in his job and gained a new desire.

He did slip into the sideways and back mode once JV tried to take over the tempo of the game to make it about himself. Get rid of him or his control over the tempo and we play like the first half every game, that lifted players like Skipp and Thomas out of the muck.

Sadly Ricardo appears to be stuck.

That's the difference between top players and average ones, top players will have good performances week in week out with the odd off day.

Incredible scenes today that we haven’t seen for a while.  Mav passing to a player that offered support, Thomas offering support and whipping in some quality crosses first time. We need to see more of this team work.

Like most of the team, they look so much better playing forwards with purpose than knocking it backwards.

Tbf to them, we actually had people attacking and arriving in the box. Numerous times we had 2/3/4 people in the box ready for crosses

A great performance v Derby, a very grating performance v Brizzle. We are desperately short at fullback. Thomas was targeted second half tactically - not for the first time this season.

Thomas is such a brain dead footballer.

If you want to punish yourself, re-watch his involvement with their first goal, he is genuinely so bad it hurts.

How we’ve got him cosplaying as a professional footballer for another 3+ years is criminal.

What is this guys problem? He played really well on Saturday but then reverts to being crap.

I maintained what I have always said, he can perform at the level we are at now certainly. But if he can’t do it week in week out and be solid defensively, he needs to move on.

No one will pay a transfer fee for him or offer him the wages he’s on, he’s here for the foreseeable.

He just doesn't have any strengths to his game.

He's not fast, not great on the ball, weak, not good in the air, his long throws are short, he doesn't react quick enough, gets dragged out of position a lot.

His good games seem to come down to luck, rather than what he's set out or intending to do.

To be fair, we don’t need a transfer fee and I do think we could get a small fee from someone. Players succeed and fail at different clubs and other clubs could fancy their chances of getting more consistent performances out of him.

The problem, as alway with us, wages. Nobody will pay the wages which is why giving him a pay rise was stupid.

It’s always been like this with him though. He’s average to poor 90% of the time before randomly having one incredible game then instantly reverts back. Odd player.

Same with Choudhury.

Average to poor is being generous.

He's levels range from unbelievably, unprofessionally bad  to poor for 75% of his games.

Anything above poor is a good game for him.

He's that rare level of bad - Ward level -  that it sucks the energy for the whole team. It's staggering that professional manager cannot see that. Cooper did, Enzo did. Wilder did. Carrick did. Every opposition manager does

He is useless and boring.  Him, Hamza and now Ricardo all play the same way.

Always the backwards pass as the first option.  I hate seeing him call for the ball after 10 sideways passes only fom him to already have his hips positioned to send it back, usually to a player already under a press which they all caused.

He seems to always be in a position to not provide defensive stability, help get the ball out the back to winger or when he gets forward doesn’t cross but takes too long and looks to send it backwards.

The Derby game was just an anomaly we will never be able to explain.

Anyone care to join me in Luke Thomas bingo today?

*The angled '2 o clock' short pass inside to Vesty

*The rugby tackle tackle

*The 'corkscrew' successful pass where in a complete mess and under pressure, his body shape contorts into a corkscrew routine and just about manages to get off a pass inside, usually to Skipp

*The one hand semaphore stretch, used when completely mugged off for pace, he can't even grab hold of the opponent's shirt to foul

*Being robbed of the ball around 45 yards out

*Shepherding the ball out of play but concedes a corner in blind panic

*Caught napping, finding himself wrong side of his man (who's read the game) and concedes a soft goal as a direct result

Only two today. Good to see the Rugby tackle make an appearance though!

And set up the first goal courtesy of a horror touch

The likes of Fatawu, Mavididi and Jordan James carrying Luke Thomas like he was carried by Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes.

Fortunately for us, we have a lot of good players for this level that save Luke Thomas from being frozen out.

When Thomas gets put into a worse team (his loan at boro and sheff utd), the manager of said team sees his true colours.
