This thread shows why the general public shouldn’t be trusted to give opinions. I’ve seen ice lolly’s and chocolate bars being described as sweets.

What about Pepperami lads?!?

Take a long hard look at yourselves.

In a related question. WTF is Caramac all about?

Fvcking delicious, here's a tip - melt one with some Galaxy and butter and pour it over pancakes

Best sweets:

Haribo Rhubarb and Custard pencils (rare af but fantastic)

Clarnico Mint Creams (a good pensioner sweet, nuts to Werther's)

Maoam (specifically the cola ones)

Shrimps and Bananas, classic

Bubblegum bottles

Jelly Belly

Laffy Taffy

Haribo Super Mix

Jelly Babies (not fake ones)

Wham/Irn Bru bars

Those fat pink nougat bars

Scottish tablet

Soft rock

Flumps

Rowntrees Randoms

Previous best but no longer exist:

Bursting Bugs

Joosters

Occasionally love me some Dolly Mixture too, and milk bottles but they have to be dusty ones and not naff own brand jobs

Not a huge fan of boiled sweets, but I do like rosey apples, pear drops, chocolate limes, blackcurrant liquorice, and those herbal cough sweets

Softees, almost all of them

Bonbons

York Fruit Jellies

Those orange and lemon slice things you get in a circular pot around Christmas

I like sweets

Oh, and Licorice Allsorts.

Those strawberry tubes with the filling

Milk bottles or anything with a milky half (like those new drumstick chews)

Any gummy with foam on one side

Those white chocolate mice with the pink in them

Flying saucers

All great choices

Have you ever tried these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/20-Milk-Flavour-Chews-Wholesale/dp/B00DQR1RPQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=milk+sweets&qid=1607728850&sr=8-3

They taste like milk bottles but a bit sweeter, but the consistency of Starburst. Very nice

If you don't fancy buying a tray of them, I know Birstall Post Office sells individual packs if you're ever in the area. I'm surprised they're not more widely available though, really nice

They were back in my day when I only had sixpence to spend and all my mates were chewing them. They were sold in my local sweetshop therefore they were sweets :P

Luxury! We used to dream of having sixpence. Would have been able to get a Mars Bar instead of having to settle for a Milky Way.

They deserve a thread all of their own. They might just be the best snack full stop

Would you still think that if you knew that one of the components of the flavouring was a substance extracted from human hair ? I haven’t been able to look at one since I found that out
