At 77 I'm possibly the oldest guy in the youth team, but still hoping to make the reserves one day. I  recently watched the videos of the new training facility, seriouly very impressed, and the last training session held at Belvoir Drive. Looking at the BD session I wonder if I could train with the first team? It reminds me of the shots of the England team training at World and Euro championships. It all looks so half hearted I think I'd be easily able to keep up and probably excel.  My school team trained harder than this . A liittle light jogging.? Please tell me this is not typical. To my mind they should be having at least two hours on defending at set pieces and even longer at finishing (at the moment, two of our weaknesses) . These are young professional athletes and fantastically well paid.  A little light jogging???  Is this usual ?

I hope its not typical of Premier League clubs. Maybe not though, as if our guys worked up a sweat in training and the rest are doing this we should be able to do the double every year. I love the club and the excellent results they are achieving in spite of what I've seen of the training but surely the players would appreciate something a bit more competitive and energetic. They seem to spend more time chatting than doing any work. They are not even out of breath.

A bit of a contrast to the training at Reading years ago when Robin Friday had to be banned from their training as too many of his team mates were being injured by his tackles. Don't have to go to that extreme but watching this I'd be surprised to see anyone with a light sweat. Someone please enlighten me and tell me the video is n't typical.

Incidentally it seemed to suit Friday, He played with his socks lower than Grealish and like Grealish took a hell of a kicking but was rarely injured.

I think they show recovery work Alan , helps the players work the lactic acid out of muscles to help them recover quickly, Great post my friend and hope you are enjoying seeing the club reach for the stars

when was your first city game ?

and who is your all time greatest player ?

I'm sure I heard Rodgers say that the games were coming so thick and fast that training was just really getting together to work on a bit of shape. I don't think they need to be worked too much at the moment.

I'm with you on the set piece training! Something needs to change if we're gonna be in with a chance of top 4

I'm not sure of the first game I saw but it would have been in the 1962-63 (?) season ,the year of a lot of snow, probably in January when I moved to Leicester,  the first time I'd lived within reach of a 1st division (as it then was) football club . Leicester had a great team and it looked for a long while as if they might do the double. Alas they got neither. My favorite player then was ,Banks excepted, either Frank McLintock or Davie Gibson. I then lived in Leicester again and went to all the home games at the time when Frank Worthington played ,who I liked a lot. Over the years I watched them whenever they played a team near where I lived but did n't really have a favourite player. I admired Martin O'Neill as a manager and of the Premiership winning team and since, Mahrez. I would n't say he's a favourite but Jamie Vardy is probably most deserving of admiration. Coming from non-lesgue football late I think his achievements are wonderful, but mostly because he's such a good club man and a trier from start to finish in practically every game he starts.

I wanted to live to see a man on Mars but Leicester winning the Premiership was probably even better. I stiil think with luck they could do it again.

You've witnessed a man on Mars..

Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

Thanks to all who explained the reason these training videos ( and of the England team training) always look so unenergetic. Warming down seems the best explanation to me. I still would have thought that at their age they should be able to and need (like track and field athletes , swimmers, boxers etc ) some tough training every day except match days. Having stood practically on the pitch at the halfway line many times in the shed stand at Filbert Street I'm well aware of the effort involved in a 90 minute match. If I was a manager I'd want my players filmed working their balls off in training. You can do this without giving any secrets away. All this talking behind their hands puzzles me too. I know MI6 have fantastic microphones but how are the mic operators going to tell their players what's being said before a free kick, assuming we've got ex-Spy mics around.

Thanks both, I've not been able to watch LCFC except on  TV and I take it that was Jock Wallace with the Sandhills . I like the sound of that-even now I'd tackle a few for football wages.

Sean from Enderby, take a bow. It’s a bit obvious though. You’re brave exposing your IP address like this, hope you’re not static.

Well I'm old fashioned I stand by what I say altho I apologise when I've got it wrong. It had occurred to me about the IP address but I'm thick skinned and only hide behind a pseudonym on web sites where money could go astray. I'm mean as well.

You’re definitely Sean.
