Based on being around professional clubs in my youth, as you get closer to match days, you don’t train hard at all. Saying that, these guys are super fit, so even training at 25% of what they do, I’d be knackered these days.

The hardest training was pre season and that was only difficult if you lacked fitness. We rarely did “ball work” for the first few weeks.

When I see these videos, it appears to be the cool down / warm up sessions. The still photos we get, are sometimes the in training.

I wouldn't worry about the player's fitness levels. I saw a 5K time that a 37 year old Dean Hammond posted earlier in the year and it was outrageous. Given his age and the fact he wasn't the most mobile player assures me that the first team lads are on another level in terms of fitness.

You've got about as much chance of seeing the new training ground in the flesh as 99% of the rest of us Leicester fans!

Agreed. The new training facilty looks fantastic and it all helps if you're trying to impress a new signing. Its not obvious from the videos but if they kept six holes say of the golf course for an after training wind down game it would all help the spirit Claudio got into the team. Nothing like winning a few bob at golf and a bit of banter for building the right spirit which we seemed  to have in spades 2015/6.. Looking at old posts and reading former player articles they all seem to remember LCFC fondly so getting the right team spirit we seem very good at anyway. It ain't all about paying the biggest wages.

You’re definitely Sean.

Don't be ridiculous.

He's clearly a racing driver.  Four time world champ I believe.

Don't you know anything?

Wonderful thread. Heartily enjoyable

Thanks, I think forums are healthier for a bit of banter and less bitterness. This is a pretty good forum it seems to me with few Trolls. Well in keeping with what I know of the general club atmosphere.I'll try hard to remember that myself if those bastards from Manchester beat us.

I'm not sure of the first game I saw but it would have been in the 1962-63 (?) season ,the year of a lot of snow, probably in January when I moved to Leicester,  the first time I'd lived within reach of a 1st division (as it then was) football club . Leicester had a great team and it looked for a long while as if they might do the double. Alas they got neither. My favorite player then was ,Banks excepted, either Frank McLintock or Davie Gibson. I then lived in Leicester again and went to all the home games at the time when Frank Worthington played ,who I liked a lot. Over the years I watched them whenever they played a team near where I lived but did n't really have a favourite player. I admired Martin O'Neill as a manager and of the Premiership winning team and since, Mahrez. I would n't say he's a favourite but Jamie Vardy is probably most deserving of admiration. Coming from non-lesgue football late I think his achievements are wonderful, but mostly because he's such a good club man and a trier from start to finish in practically every game he starts.

I wanted to live to see a man on Mars but Leicester winning the Premiership was probably even better. I stiil think with luck they could do it again.

Excellent insight and got me thinking.

We definitely seem to have more than our fair share of "proper fans" who chose our great club to support despite no family allegiances and in some cases even logical links to us.

Definitely better than being an "elite" club with millions of twitter warriors having never seen us play live and chosen due to past success.

There are also a lot of ex players who stay in the area.

There is certainly something about leicester.

That's a new definition of the word I wasn't previously aware of.

...I  remember listening to an interview with Andy King regarding the training program they were given at the end if the season!!!

He was saying that it took about two days after their return before they were doing ball work such was their fitness on return to training.

Pearson's back room staff had a great system and we were surely at the forefront in our use of strength and conditioning and it is sad that we did not retain the key members of staff in that backroom team.

With the change of managers, come new ideas and new ideas means a new approach.

We looked like we were lacking stamina this time around last year and the manager has remarked that we have looked leggy this side of Christmas as well, although  we have had a new added challenge to overcome.

It seems that we had got this so right before and sad that we had to lose it.

Let me wade in on this after a quick skim through the OP...

Surely clubs these days do most/all of their intense training behind closed doors on gym equipment where perhaps injuries are less likely.

Again, apologies if im way off the mark here but this wine isnt going to drink itself..
