Zimbabwe putting up a great fight in response to NZ 601\3 55\5 😊😊

105-9 now. This will be one of the biggest ever Test defeats, l imagine.

17 years old! Looks an absolutely fantastic young player.

Could we see an England team with 2 sets of brothers in it (the Rews and the Ahmeds) at some point in the coming years?

Tried watching the Hundred on the BBC.

The commentary is utterly honking failure banter and the on-field player-chat thing is excruciating.

I know it's fashionable as a 'proper' cricket fan to sh1t on the hundred...but...

It's dire.  The format doesn't work, 20 overs a piece just does.  There have already been some very one sided games this year and it was the same last year.  For a format people watch for some big hitting it tends to favour bowlers, batters have absolutely no time to get in.  Again T20 seems to manage that balance better.

As for the coverage.  Fvck me.  Part of me died today when Curran did a horrible dance and Butcher referred to him as having snake hips.  I know it's old man shouting at a cloud territory but it's bloody vomit inducing b0llocks.

Must admit I like Alex Hartley easy on the eye fairly knowledgeable and good fun

A gazillion times this.  The format will probably die / revert to T20 when the big money franchise stuff kicks in, and not a moment too soon.

There's a reason why the "set of 5" / 100 ball crap has caught on nowhere else in the world, and not really here, actually.

And then BBC gets a chance to broadcast it free to air, and they have a chance to differentiate themselves from Sky, and do it better, but no, they do it largely the same, only worse.

I like Alex Hartley, Isa Guha and Sir Alastair on TMS, but a lot of the stuff they talk about on the Hundred leaveszme cold.

No one.  Not a soul asked for on-field player interviews and they add bob-all to the coverage.   It's been foisted on us all because they do it elsewhere.

Shame.

If i do watch some I have to watch it on mute.  We've got everything wrong with the 100....everything.

Spot on mate, it's great that people get to see some excellent players for free on the BBC but their coverage is also horrendous.  The on field interviews are just sh1t.

I've actually watched a lot of it, as I'm always up for more cricket but I just can't get on board with the format or the coverage.

I’m trying to give it a go. I’ve watched for about 15 minutes and I’m off to do some tidying up in preference. And I hate housework. I can’t stand the constant interviews and the fact that you get plastered across the screen the runs needed and balls left. The targets well off to the right and no way does it give you the idea that the red team is in the cart the way the simple 55-6 does. Washing up again….

This is brilliant from Bairstow in the 20 balls less than the vitality blast tournament

Meanwhile, Pakistan's 92 all out was anything but!

Jacob Bethell to captain England in Ireland for the T20s

The other day Nas and Athers were suggesting he ought to go and play some red ball cricket ready for the Ashes ..

They are probably right, but there are a couple of warm up games in Aus and if everyone's fit, he probably won't make the first XL. There are two lions matches being played at the same time as the first two tests that he could get some practice in, if not selected.

Aus hitting 400+ in their ODI vs SA.

Highest Aussie ODI score is 434, could go.

Not coming close to the triumvirate of England scores of that golden era, though.

Edit: 431, 8th highest of all time and 2nd highest by Oz in the end.
