I wonder what England are averaging over the last year. It must be about 240.

Balls faced per innings?

What is England's record at Lords compared to elsewhere? I swear it seems that England perform a lot better at other test stadiums.

Edgbaston and Old Trafford were already my favourite grounds to watch England.

Now I know why...

Quite like the Athers and Mark Taylor commentary combo.

Great days play.

A couple of early wickets tomorrow will make things interesting.

Most enjoyable test match is this.

Wonderfully poised match, looking forward to the conclusion tomorrow morning.

I still think it's advantage NZ, though its mighty close. All rests on Root really, into the tail with one more wicket and I can't see 8/9/10/11 getting more than about 20 between them.

I think advantage England. Only 61 left to win. 5 wickets to spare is enough.

Well our tail can wag at times .

Just need to a bit harder tomorrow.

high Concentration & discipline levels, wins us this game....Go down in 5s & tens...

Its only the 4th day...Forget The weather, prove Deck-chairs ( collapsable) isn t our norm, and wind breaks can cover our tail...

Time for our 6/7 partnership got us over the line, Not nearly...

Lets see if we can leave the last 3 in the Changing room...Root & Foakes have to be up for the challenge...

Our strongest Batsman, & the Wannabe...!!!

If they Knock Off 61 runs,it doesn't have to be before Lunch...Foakes sees it through, we have then found Another Spoke for that buckled wheel...

I know there are very few genuine bunnies in Test cricket these days but, even so, by modern standards this line-up is pretty weak from 8 to 11 for a situation like this. Need Root and Foakes to get us at least within 20 I reckon.

Batting with the tail is a great test of a batsman . If we lose one of these 2 early the last batsman will have to think about his own game and also manage the exposure of the non batter to as few balls as possible . Good running and backing up please chaps .

Think I read Root would also reach 10,000 Test runs and score his maiden fourth innings ton if he makes his century. Just hope it doesn't piss it down all day now...

An interesting tidbit from cricinfo: "Foakes has conceded 7 leg byes and 1 bye. Blundell conceded 14 leg byes and 20 byes (more to come as this innnings is not completed). so already a 26 run swing".

It shows that in some games like this, having a quality gloveman behind the stumps is worth the runs they might not score as a more specialist batsman. I like Buttler as a batsman a hell of a lot, but it's pretty clear Foakes needs to be an integral part of this England team henceforth.

The problem might be concentration as there might be a lot of coming on and off today.
