Wonder what Roots average is since giving up captaincy. I don't feel it would be too good. Probably need a hundred from one of these two if we are to get parity.

Didn't he have a year where he was superb after giving up the captaincy. Been a rough 12 months or so though.

Both Root and Bairstow have been very disappointing in the past 9 months.

 

In big danger here unless the tail wags. No chance we pull it back again.

Rehan could've put that anywhere. You never know with this team but can't see a recovery this time. You can't keeping giving India a big first innings lead.

Set about 390, end up 260-8 or something and then someone does some incredible hitting to get us close to the target...only to fall short and finish on about 340-350.

It wouldn't just be incredible for this team, it would be historic in terms of England cricket full stop.
