There's clearly some fine tuning that needs to be done given that's the third time out of three we've conceded a 100+ first innings lead this series.

That being said, this is all a better showing so far than the last India tour. And the one before that, too.

Predictable, sometimes you have to play the situation.

India unfortunately a bowler down, today was a day to grind them down.

You can have a style, but still be willing to adapt to the match situation.

Spot on.

India have lost a player, Jadeja is struggling & England hand any advantage back.

Alistair Cook made a good point regarding Root & Bazzball. He doesn't need to alter the way he plays, he's a top player. It's served him well. He doesn't need to go total Bazzball.

The 'new' way of being more positive has helped players like Crawley, Duckett etc, who were at a crossroad.

Root has played that shot numerous times and been called a genius. But when he's not in great form it's a bad decision. He's not the type who can hit his way into form.

We are definitely missing Stokes the bowler too.

Sometimes when you are out of form you have to put away a few of your shots and play simple.

Root is a great player he's doesn't need to bazball, just play normal.

Looking forward to us capitulating to 120 all out chasing 500 in 140 overs, all in the name of entertainment. If we can come out of this game with a draw it will be a fantastic result, especially with the series in the balance right now. Unfortunately "a draw" is not in this teams vocabulary which, in some scenarios is fine... Here you're just consigning yourself to not being able to win the series. Especially with the India squad so depleted I'd be pretty disappointed when we don't look at the bigger picture that this is a winnable series if we just hang on in there this test.

Not many sides are going to bat as long as we'll need to in the second innings to get a draw in India anyway.

India are currently missing huge players (I know Brook and Leach are, too) so this is a poor effort to be so far behind.

The depth they have is staggering though, mentioned it earlier in the series about them having players like Sarfaraz Khan to fall back on.

The Duckett run out probably sums up the last 2 days.

Are we heading into the same sort of territory as the last series?

Start well , be competitive then get a couple of hammerings.

Could be the case, but there's still two matches to play.

A lot of people like to write off this team because they "only play one way" or "don't play cricket as it should be" or somesuch, but they've shown they can bounce back. Guess we'll find out over the next couple of weeks.

This England team is a great illustration of why professional sport has evolved to playing the odds rather than being gung ho and aggressive

You will get less aggro and criticism playing safe than being aggressive

Don't think that's true at all, if anything it's the opposite in football.
