That drop by Crawley has likely cost the chance of winning this.

Yep. That would have given us real momentum and made a sub 400 lead very possible.

This is the problem with him. Brook/Root etc drops that and you're annoyed but don't blame them for losing the game. But when you average 30 in 50 test matches, every mistake is heightened.

Was about as easy as them come because when it's at your midriff, it's so easy to use that to help you catch it by being a backstop

When we bat we will see if we are a serious side now or whether we just play for a laugh.

Stokes hates draws, but a draw will feel like a win from here. Especially when 1 nil up in the series.

Very keen to know what total Gill will be happy with.

I supect it'll be north of 500.

I think around 520 with about 20 overs left in the day.

India will bat until tea and then assess where they are.

If England chase down 500 then you just have to say fair play. But you can't be in a position where you don't have enough time to get 10 wickets.

It's a testament to how ineffective this England bowling attack is that it's making the average of a reasonably talented but by no means great batsman like Gill look like Bradman.

Hmmm

His Test average is 42 (37 before this series started) over a five year career so far.

I think "reasonably talented but by no means great" applies.

That's true to a degree, but this pitch is a feather bed, that's why India will set a target of about 550.

The way England play means they’ll offer you chances even on a flat deck. While unlikely I give us 25% chance of winning. Likely 110 overs so just about 5 an over which is easy for us.

Yes - they are scared of England. With some justification tbf.

Scared of a team that can chase 370 is one thing, but they’re at 591 lol.

This England side have made me look a fool too many times - I just don't know what they are capable of. But it is extraordinary that they haven't declared yet.

How have they not declared at that point.

I imagine they will win but they are going to look really silly if they don't.

I think they will struggle to bowl out England in the time they have left, aside the new ball not a lots happening.

They should have played on England ego and gave them 420 odd to chase.
