I've used Helly Fresh and Gousto and both are alright, but I've recently been using Morrisons "Eat Fresh" service. It is a bit cheaper, £30 for 5 meals (2 people) but you get proper portions of stuff. Decent shelf life on the items that arrive too. Had one box where the salmon had use by date of the day it arrived - emailed Morrisons and they refunded £6!

I think these boxes are great for some people but definatley not for everyone. I'm on my own so the £30 pretty much feeds me for the week.

Only problem so far is the menu does not seem to vary wildly so you can end up choosing the same things each week. But unless you're a mega fussy eater you should find something you like!

Are they any good? Do you get a real amount of food? Is it worth it?  Do you get a free carrot if peeps use your code?

I enjoyed their recipes, very good if you have a busy life and don't want to think about food shopping.

Definitely reduces food waste, and I found the portions size fine.

We have gousto and have tried hello fresh.

I might give that a go.

Ordered my first Hello Fresh yesterday, funnily enough. My friend swears by HF, Gousto etc. and sent me a free box.

Will report back.

yeah it's not bad value mate. With Gousto etc, if the recipe needs Worcester sauce or something, then they send a little sachet. With morrisons, they send you a whole bottle! Got a cupboard full of spaghetti and sauces etc now!

Will donate the surplus to the food bank.

Gousto user here. It's a bit tragic, but one of the things I have looked forward to during lockdown has been picking my recipes each week! If you pick well you can get pretty decent value for money. I always take a bit of time to look at the ingredients list to make sure that we are getting a substantial meal.

Was really surprised at the portion sizes with Hello Fresh, plenty of food in the 2 person packs. Food was very tasty too so no complaints. Wouldn’t do it every week as I quite like doing a food shop and being a bit off the cuff with what we eat. I know people who swear by these though and would never go back to doing a weekly shop for food.

It was a Hello Fresh box I was prepping when I lobbed the end of my finger off though - watch out for that coriander.

We’ve been using HF and gousto for about a month now as we were spending a fortune on Tesco shops and throwing a load of it away. It’s cut our wastage down massively and the meals are spot on.

The reason we’re mostly with HF now instead of gousto is they give the option to have 5 days worth of meals, I think. But the quality is really quite good and the recipes are mostly straightforwards.

Meh its ok but wouldn't use them full price. I always sign up with the discounts then cancel straight away. The amount of times i've had missing ingredients is unreal. Quality of the stuff you get can be hit and miss. Ive had carrots that look like they were picked out of a dustbin. The recipes can be alright although some are very hit and miss.  Too much mince meat recipes for me. I like mince meat but i'll probably really only eat it once a week. All the nice recipes are always extra as well.

I've had Hello fresh a few times with different codes, It's good, simple, good quality and value for money IF you get half off. The main reason I did it was just to get away from the monotity of having the same chicken pie and mash, sausage and mash, burgers and chips etc every single week.

I don't know much about these food prep services but I did see a HUGE HelloFresh production facility on the outskirts of Nuneaton. I suppose Gousto and other big enterprises must have something similar, but it kind of detracts from the "home prepped" image as it's clearly mass produced, not that doesn't make it decent, I suppose.

Nicely done! Love a bit of Hello Fresh but it's gotta be 25% minimum for me.

They send you the raw ingredients and you cook from scratch. The production side will be with respect to measuring out the ingredients and organising all the ingredients needed into the boxes
