I read somewhere it in part down to having a bigger pelvis, which cause more stress on the knee :dunno:

Yep there's been a lot of studies in the last few years especially, some of the more notable outcomes published from memory were that the risk of acl injury supposedly goes up by a significant amount based on stages of the menstrual cycle (something to do with levels of laxity/looseness in the joint - way beyond my understanding) and in players that are on contraceptives.

This was the red card in the game against Chelsea...

...it does look strange when viewed from different perspectives!!!

If you just watch the Leicester player, it seems she goes through, studs first, while stretching for the ball. It looks a tad reckless and could understand the red.

Then if you just watched it from the Chelsea player, she comes in and kicks the ball, which by now is trapped between both players and if anything she would have jarred her foot against the ball and her momentum made her fall. Definitely not a red, and play on.

It really depends who the ref was watching as it comes across in both ways.

Ridiculous, and absolutely ruined the game as a contest.

How did you watch it? I asked here where it was on, someone replied but then deleted their post before I could read it.

A couple of the cup games were shown on the BBC but Chelsea/Leicester wasn't one of them. The full game is now available to watch on FA Player though if you really want to put yourself through it.

Centre-back Sophie Howard will also be back in contention following a successful appeal for wrongful dismissal made by the Club after her straight red card in Saturday’s FA Cup match against the Blues.

Bedford added: “Our biggest emotion is just relief and being pleased for Sophie that we’ve managed to get that overturned. I think in the moment of the game it was my opinion that it wasn’t a red card.

“But that’s football and you’ve just got to get on with it and play the game that is left to play. For now, the key thing for us with getting it overturned was having her available for the games in March and I’m really pleased that she is now available.”

.....the card seriously affected the game for the team, hopefully the players take heart and just look to the next game!!!

Going through a game where you concede 7 could not have been good for the moral, just hope they are still positive. As for the incident, if you just focus on Howard it looks like an uncontrolled tackle but just keeping your eye on the Chelsea player it is clear she made contact with the ball and it would have been like kicking a brick wall as the ball was against Howards boot.

Has there been any chatter at all about signing Bedford to a long term contract after this season (now that is seems pretty certain we’re going to stay up!)?

Lets hope we can convince her to extend her stay at the end of the season

assuming we stay up I think she will stay for sure, I could see her staying even if they went down, the secondment seemed to be a cover for if it went wrong

Only watched the highlights but didn't seem like they were in the game at all yesterday. Another 2 goals conceded direct from a corner to add to the one against Villa a few weeks ago. Need to get that sorted.

....women Goal Keepers do struggle with the ball in the air!!!

Any shot aim between the crossbar and the upright is always going to beat them.

There will have to be a seismic move to bring in tall keepers to help in that respect but like all teams, they wait till one team does it then they copy the innovation.

They have seen the revolution in the men's game, history should tell them how the game is going to develop, someone needs to take the lead, in order to be getting a head start on the other teams.

United scored like that in their previous game too so we should have expected that. Great deliveries but needs to be worked on. Hope they don’t consult them mens defensive coaches though!
