Jesus that Palmer looks some player.

God help us though, absolutely miles away from Man City and we're picking up players released by Watford lol

Good to see the link between first team and Leicester team though, playing with 3 cbs and still conceding from 40 yard through balls.

Just scored in the Champions League 😂 meanwhile ours struggle to score in League One….

I do hope you're right.....but im assuming you're referring to Beaglehole being "moved out of the way"?

While he undoubtedly stifled the development of many technically gifted players, it is the development from the U13-U16 phase that i was referring to as Chilwell, Barnes and KDH all benefitted enormously from their coaching in those years....and they all testify to the great coaches they had during those years.

No definitely not. Beaglehole had limitations but as you say did great work with some our break through players.   I'm referring to someone who has been promoted far higher up in the club than him. Unfortunately he does still over see the academy, which isn't ideal, but better than when he was 'on the ground' as it were.

My concern is that those group of players ALL came through at the same time when we had a really good group of coaches from U13-U16 level.....and NONE of those coaches are with us any more.

Unless we have found coaches of similar quality to replace them, we may need to be more reliant on our recruitment and signing good quality players age 16+ to find the next group to progress through to the first team...!

Would Idiakez have coached any of the cluster of recent breakthroughs? Barnes, Chilwell, et al.

Unless I've imagine it I remember the odd person on here glowing about him, I'd have no idea if he looked after any of them though!

All of them have been heavily criticised or even dismissed by many on here. Choudhury has been hammered many times. If we lose they are often first in the firing line. I sometimes think that our academy graduates are judged by a higher standard which is very unfair.

Any non-FTer reading this would be forgiven for thinking that Perez, Bertrand and Westergaard are our academy graduates. Reality is that FT is an equal opportunity forum when it comes to 'hammering" shitty performances (real or perceived).

A bad performance should be criticised of course but that seems to lead to the idea that the player is just not good enough. Hamza is the perfect example of this. He is a pretty good player , not crap, and he is capable of good performances. The three you mention are senior pros and in their careers have had many good games , perhaps they are not showing that right now but they can and probably will.

If you're referring to JR, i doubt he will ever release his grip on the Academy but i was a big critic of his appointment as DoF when it happened due to his lack of experience.....but after a very shaky start and some very poor signings, i think he has done a fantastic job and Im very happy to have been proved totally wrong on that!

As for Beaglehole doing great work with our breakthrough players....probably best if we agree to disagree on that one..! :D

As recently as last season (and even this preseason), Vardy was being criticized and there were those who thought that he was no longer good enough to start for us or being a regular starter. As recently as the first part of last season, many opined that Nacho was a bust and should be gotten rid of. In Youri’s first full season (that is, season before last), there were many who thought he was fat and out of shape and perhaps should be binned.

One could go on and on, as similar instances are virtually infinitum. It has nothing to do with being our academy player!

Without checking it seems like Popov is scoring every game

Looks to be a very good player at this level and still only 16. We got him from Man Utd.

Remember when everyone swore we’d see big things from the group coming through with Chilwell, Choudhury etc coming through? Feels like that with the u18s now
