Seasons in the top-flight

to me, it just feels like a pointless rivalry because we stand to gain nothing from ‘competing’ with a club we out perform on literally every single metric

I’m not sure it’s that relevant, look at Villa-Birmingham, bigger gap in success and size between them 2 than us and Cov yet it’s still one of the most fierce rivalry’s in the country.

Yeah, I see your point but they’re in the same city, and have a shared territory. We’ve got two clubs closer to our historic size next to us, and we’re not even in the same region as Cov

Yeah I know what you mean, I’m not trying to suggest it’s on the same level as those 2 just that the footballing side isn’t always important.

Although it would probably help with us vs Cov, there’s a dislike/hatred on both sides with us and Cov I think it has more potential than the others if they came up simply because they have such a hatred for us, if they were in Wolves position for example this last few years some of the games would’ve been huge.

15th April 89 is the main one, if we won we were div 2 champs, when the news started coming through we started cheering, then as news kept coming in, it got very quiet.  Crazy but dont even remember the score, think it was 1-1.  Ive still got your local paper with the '10,000 chelsea fans' front page.

Beat you 2-0, ending your long unbeaten run. Although as you rightly allude to, it was a numb day

I respect you have a different opinion but I think you’re pigeonholing it a bit in regards to having to be the closest teams, having to be equally successful etc. Look at the Palace-Brighton, nowhere near each other geographically when you consider how many clubs are closer to both of them and you could argue historically Palace have been a league or two above Brighton. Yet they’re by far each other’s fiercest rivals, because they hate each other. There’s no rhyme or reason to it beyond that.

I’m not saying all Leicester fans will hate Cov or that they should, but they’re the only team where a decent section of both set of fans hate each other. Forest and Derby is a one-sided rivalry I'm afraid as they love to tell us. As good as some of our games vs Forest have been, Cov games always have a bite to it even off the pitch. Even if you don’t necessarily care yourself it’s clearly the one real rivalry we have.

Oh for sure! If the guy who taken over Wolves had bought Cov instead it would have gotten really spicy.

Surprised there have been so few mentions of Peterborough - it was a one way thing, granted, but they were rather bothered by our presence during those few seasons we played each other. lol

Villa 90pts coz of Brian Little, joachim, draper grayson that whole debacle.

10% split amongst derby, cov, forest. And other local teams we'll never play again.

Think he meant Portsmouth maybe?

Really couldn’t give a hoot about derbies, it’s all just commercial now. I remember Sky Sports really trying to push that embarrassing ‘south coast derby’ between Bournemouth and S’Hampton a few years ago.

Chelsea - 100

I absolutely detest everything about them. Their fanbase is an utter shambles, their squad consists mainly of thugs and rats, they spend 250 million quids worth of corrupt Russian Oligarch Rubles and act like they've actually achieved something? They just buy titles and couldn't even manage to beat us in the final.

Chelsea and ManC are fake clubs.

Come on now, they are not though are they.

I don't think we would have a UCL final of Chelsea vs ManC without the financial muscle. It feels artificial much like Blackburn buying the Premier League in '96 and six clubs dominating every major trophy until we turned up.

Possibly not but you called the clubs fake. They are a million miles from this. MK Dons and Red Bull Leipzig are fake clubs.

Agreed. Man City and Chelsea were still decent sized clubs before they were bankrolled

I say it all the time on here but Man City were one of the 10 biggest clubs in the country pre-takeover. Chelsea too, probably.

Easily - they may not have won as many trophies but they spent a lot of time in the top-flight and had big fan bases domestically.

let’s face it - if they were small clubs they never would have been bankrolled in the first place.
