Pleased with this. If available surely he starts v Wolves.

Hope we don't go with 3 CB's now just because we can.

Why? We are not that desperate.

Amartey will most likely start on Saturday.

Forget about the short term.

Resale value resale value resale value.

This is our chance now to really push for a champions league spot.

The club is in a fantastic position.

Going out and signing a winger I.E mandueke from PSV is only going to benefit us. Not just on League position but it's financially sound.

If this player costs 40m now he will be worth north 80m in a year or 2 he is that good and English Tax on top of that. If we don't sign him this window it will be 60m next summer.  A RW has to be priority this window without question unless we put Barnes on the Right and stick that Young lad on the Left who featured Pre season.

A CB is a must as well due to the assault on fofana.

All in all we will benefit from spending a bit more now while prices will be slightly lower and our finances will rocket up for the future.

It's not about having a transfer done in 24hrs it's about getting a replacement in almost 5 years there is a huge difference.

It is not simple as this. We have already spent a lot this window. We need to offload before we buy more.

Remember why Maguire and Chilwell got sold for so much? Yes, many would say because of hype, but it is not possible if they did not play.

Look at Praet. Great player (he is good enough as a starter in my view). He does not play. He cannot be sold for more than we got him for - some 20m plus?

We have a squad so big now that we may not even be able register Praet or Mendy in the EPL. Their value will go down and not up.

In short, it is not just about buying as Jimbo said. It has to be strategically done.

Apparently the final details of the medical are holding up the deal. I expect it will be completed this morning.

In what respect? I had a period of absence, are you privy to inside info then?

I'm unsure who's ITK now?

If we were in such a rush to have him train with us yesterday then I'm sure the plan is to have him play tomorrow so I fully expect him to be signed before 12.

Do they train the day before a game? If they do surely its mainly a recovery/loosen up session not anything where they will be playing together.

...would be going through routine training, shapes and I would think extensive sessions for the defense!!!

I think he is here early for a reason and that is to start the Wolves game.

I’d still start Amartey tbh

You can be sure Wolves will be very pleased to be facing a partnership with so little preparation, Jimenez could be big trouble. Rodgers I think will be cautious and stick with Amartey this week.

Frankly I am shocked at the number of people on here who seem to think that Vestergaard will show up and start after just one training session.

I hate new signing videos but I REALLY, REALLY want a Danish friends video for this one

But if he's going to be available for Wolves then that doesn't give us the three weeks we typically need to shoot a video.

Sod the video what about all the medicals.

Let Jannick First settle,One can learn alot from the Bench over Team mates Trigger movements

& all round movements, direct & indirect play...

it would also  bring that needed competition between teammates.

Rodgers Keeping first to Amartey, doesn't Show any preference, keeps them & Soyu on their toes...

If situation allows, bring Vestergaard into the fold with 15minutes to go.

One doesn't want to demotivate a Player who just won silverware,  before the  season really gets into its stride.

Lets see a bit more of Amartey, he has earnt his chance..

Then 70min of Dan,  20mins of Jannik, helps Rodgers selection priorities, when moving forward into other competitions.

Maybe see a Cags,Dan,Jannik Early season rotation...We Aspire for top 4, then These 3 will have Share the Early season load...

Any knocks, Player can be given time, to ease back in either from Bench or A weeks break, without Rodgers feeling he is being forced to risk the moment.

Agreed. Start Dan and unless he is having a nightmare (which I think unlikely) then bring Vestergaard on for a run out later in the game.

Dan's been through the grinder over the years and has always played his part when asked. Sure, he's looked nervous on occasions (particularly at fullback in our system) but his performances at CB in preseason impressed me. To start Vestergard would, I think, would be a bit of a kick in the bollox. Dan will do fine against Wolves I think.

I think Amartey deserves his place tomorrow.

It will show that the Manager backs him and I'm guessing he will have been preparing all week to play.

He's never going to be a long-term starter for us, but when called on, he very rarely lets us down.

Big Love for Big Dan!

...Jannik to come on as a CF in the last 5 minutes, Stevie Walsh style!

We have to achieve top four, third time lucky.

If we don’t then B Rogers reputation will be damaged. It’s imperative that we make top four

We can't expect CL.  We are still competing with six clubs who have double to triple our turnover.  Nothing has or will change in that regard, that is why it was tough to take when we missed those golden opportunities even though we over-performed.  Competing for CL will never be sustainable in the long run.

I think we can expect 6-8th.  That seems par to me and anything better is fantastic.

As much as I'd want him to "bed in" first, I can't imagine any other outcome for him to start the game whilst training with the team without the deal being finalised. I'd prefer him to start regardless of the short notice as not only kasper knows him, which he'd have been giving him the low down for days now, but also to shore the CB's with experience. I think Vestergaard will help Soyuncu with that authoritarian side to him that Evans possesses. Of course Soyuncu is experienced himself but he makes less rash mistakes when playing with Evans.
