Cape Sounion, absolutely beautiful place. We saw a line of poetry inscribed at the temple by Lord Byron if I remember correctly. Honestly wish I was Greek, their country is stunning, wonderful food, lots of ancient ruins for history nerds like me, and a fantastic way of life. Less said about the economy the better though 🙃

I had the pleasure a work conference celebration at the Grecotel Cape Sounio a few years back.  Certainly a relaxing spot!

Nice to see some love for Norfolk in this thread. Few counties in England have more history, few places in Europe have more medieval buildings. It's great to get lost cycling along the warren of lanes that still meander aimlessly through the countryside and feel like the place has hardly changed in 100 years.

YAAARP.

We’re in Norfolk for a week right now. Went to Horsey and Winterton beaches today and saw loads of seals which was pretty cool.

San Fransisco I loved visiting, so much character and touristy things to do like visiting Alcatraz (helps loving The Rock and Escape from Alcatraz).

Nature wise, the Fjords in Norway was pretty special, as was Yosemite National Park in California. Sitting on a wall staring at this view will take some beating...

I would throw Carmel and Big Sur into the mix as well. One fantastic part of the world.

Frog Island ,Clock Tower, old John...the  Melancholy of foxton lockes & Chasing the tide at skeggy...

The First Taste of cider with Rosie next to & against an headstone in St Marys Church yard....

The glistening of her eyes, like the Smooth rays reflecting Off the gentle Waves of Groby pool...

Chase all the Beautiful Sunrise & sunsets over deserts, mountains, high crowns in Jungles or Wild Forests,  cascading waterfalls...but somehow

Its always..Leicester on my mind

I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
I've seen the bridges of the world and they're for real
I've had a red light of the wrist
Without me even gettin' kissed
It still seems so unreal
I've seen the morning in the mountains of Alaska
I've seen the sunset in the east and in the west
I've sang the glory that was Rome
And passed the hound-dog singer's home
It still seems for the best
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
I've seen the Paris lights from high upon Montmartre
And felt the silence hanging low in No-Man's-Land
And all those spanish nights were fine
It wasn't only from the wine
It still seems all in hand
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
The grand Bahama island stories carry on
And all those arigato smiles
Stay in your memory for a while
There still seems more to come
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
And I'm far, far away
But the sound of home is loud
Still is loud

Today, it was the walk across a few fields to hunt out my secret stash of damsons. Rolling English countryside, sun cracking out overhead, and nothing but the distant sound of a combine to partner the cries from the Kite above. You can travel a thousand miles or more, but it’s just a different version of this kind of perfection.

I love San Sebastián and the Basque Country.

Food, beach and people are fantastic. La concha rivals Copacabana in my opinion.

Good to see San Sebastián get a few mentions…. I’ve been about 4 times…

Stay in the old town

Eat Pinchos

Drink the local wine

Down as much seafood as you can get your hands on!

A weekend night down the main drag in the old town is so vibrant….

For my 40th my wife took me to the Martin Berasategui restaurant…. The guy is a genius…. It’s the best restaurant I’ve ever been too

it’s right up there with my favourite towns in Europe

Chez Ingalls…. On Rue Vaugalas….

Brasserie Saint Maurice

my cousin is Swiss (lives in Geneva)…. They were recommended to us by her colleague who lives there

Try a fondue too…. Haute Savoie is famous for it… It’s all much of a muchness, so, pick the restaurant with the nicest view…

Les 4 was high on the TripAdvisor list…. Don’t go there…. It’s one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had for numerous reasons!

Did the walk up glacier point in Yosemite and at the top a load of really fit young women stripped naked and dived in the lake( american student tradition apparently). Nature views were amazing as well
