I’ve been lucky travel wise so difficult to pick one. Arctic Circle in Northern Sweden, Kiruna. Insane setting on a dog sledge tour with the northern lights in the sky, log cabins etc.

Did Tromso in the same trip which was stunning. That picture was at about 2 in the afternoon by the way.

Spent a week in Kiruna a while back as part of my uni course.

Observing and documenting the Aurora is a bit difficult when you're seeing it in all its glory for the first time and your jaw just drops.

Oh wow, at the observatory that’s there? It’s a stunning part of the world, needless to say it’s pretty cold though. I went on a snow mobile tour with no goggles on, wind chill of -40 so I lasted about 15 seconds before having to cower behind the person in front of me for shelter. Absolute agony.

Genuinely was pretty stupid out there thinking about it. Spend all night drinking in the ice hotel bar before spending an hour in them temps watching the Aurora.

I walked round both of these famous formations 20 years ago. Never experienced silence like it, once you got away from people, it was like inverted silence, like it was actively sucking the sound out of the atmosphere and feeding on it somehow. Hard to explain. Just me and the giant ants.

Yep, at the observatory in the middle of winter (mid January). I don't think I've ever been anywhere as cold.

Still awesome, though.

Nice, was the same time of year I was there and it was colder than it normally is.

Really want to do this, looks incredible

Yeah incredible. Norway is amazing.

Been three times. First the Lofoton Islands, second Bergen/Flåm railway and lastly to watch Valerenga in Oslo with a few off here.

Wanted to do the Lofoten island in a camper last summer but obviously that wasn’t possible. Will definitely do it at some point.

Heard mixed things about Oslo, had a chance to go there instead of Bergamo a few years ago but it’s too expensive to live there.

Guess the place I'm looking forward to revisiting the most at some point in the future is Dubrovnik. I've only ever left Europe once for a cricket tour to Barbados (also a lovely place) and looking at this thread I feel I've hardly travelled. lol

I thought Oslo was fine, but it was a bit like Dublin where because Ireland and Norway used to be the 2 poorest Western European countries until relatively recently before becoming 2 of the wealthiest, a lot of the infrastructure and architecture still feels behind a lot of other Western European countries and there's still a lot of building going on.

Nothing wrong with that though.

It's easy to forget in all the politics and tribalism and noise of the news and working life that Great Britain is a genuinely beautiful island. With some really breathtaking mountains, hills, waterfalls, caves, national parks and countryside. And you can easily see many truly breathtaking places without ever leaving thr country.

It's sad how many people in Leicestershire have never been to the Peak District, despite it only being 1 county over and a genuinely breathtaking part of the world.

Lake Garda was a brilliant holiday. Chilling on the balcony or with a cocktail or a beer at the bar with such a nice view is what a holiday is all about!

Probably Vietnam as a country and Koh Lipe in Thailand for awesome island life.  Gili Tranawaganin Indonesia is a close second.

As for cities, this would probably sound daft but London would be my shout followed by San Francisco and Barcelona.

One of the best things we did in England was rent a canal boat for a week in the Norfolk Broads.

Highlands and Fort William. Stark beauty.

Edit: not England, but not exactly far away.

Oslo itself was like a building site, really wouldn’t spend more than a day there TBH.    Go up the museum roof, Flam museum to see the old ship, lunch by the marina and jump on the train elsewhere ha.

Im sure there is loads there, but I was the least impressed with Oslo out of there Copenhagen and Stockholm. Copenhagen was the beat IMO.
