Probably south eastern Turkey, particularly Antakya and Mardin. Kind of places I'd always dreamed about going and I wish I'd spent more time there. Went in 2010 so before the Syrian war, and took a bus across the border to Aleppo which was great too.

In Europe I think my favourite place would probably be Abruzzo in central Italy.

Can't decide between Lisbon and Rome.

I think I'd have liked Rome more if it wasn't so hot that the tyres on all the cars in the street weren't melting into the pavement when I was there. Someones bumper was literally dripping off his car. lol

Oooh that reminds me. Lake Como was pretty spectacular and I loved going form Florence out into the country side, to all the little hilltop towns.

San Gimignano

Como boat ride (probably recognisable from James Bond and Star Wars...yeah Star Wars.)

What’s everyone’s best place they’ve been to in England?

Loads of great places, Loved Cornwall.

Favourite place in the Uk is a bit of a broad area but the Scottish Highlands and Islands are stunning.

New Orleans, simply for the music. 24 hours a day 7 days a week, heaven.

How was it? Being a Rock 'n Roll/blues fan (especially Chuck Berry) I'd like to visit places like that but part of me worries about safety.

Yeah I like Cornwall too.

For me it would have to be North Norfolk and the areas around Kelling Heath, I do go here at least once a year. The beaches, walks and pubs are all great.

The beaches near there are mainly stone beaches aren’t they?

UK wise has to be the scottish highlands/west coast. watching Golden Eagles soaring over the ridges on a summer evening whilst sitting with a cold beer has to be one of my favorite experiences. Just a shame about the pesky midges.

No not really a few are along the coastal paths but I would say the majority are sand. They are very different to Cornwall though.

That sounds very cool I love birds especially birds of prey.

Nothing wrong with that though.

It's easy to forget in all the politics and tribalism and noise of the news and working life that Great Britain is a genuinely beautiful island. With some really breathtaking mountains, hills, waterfalls, caves, national parks and countryside. And you can easily see many truly breathtaking places without ever leaving thr country.

It's sad how many people in Leicestershire have never been to the Peak District, despite it only being 1 county over and a genuinely breathtaking part of the world.

So true. All of my holidays as a kid were here up to the age of 16 (never even went on a plane until I was 22!) and I hated it at the time, but I'm really grateful for it now.

Doing Stonehenge, Bath and Bristol next month (only ever been to the last one for football once) and really looking forward to it, with a couple of days in Ilfracombe thrown in for good measure. Can't wait to see some new places!

I’m looking at renting a cottage in the Lake District later this year but don’t know where to start. Does anyone know the best areas to stay for walks and views?

England - Lake District or some of the Dorset beaches.

UK- Outer Hebrides are unbelievably beautiful.

Isle of Harris beaches are incredible. Really want to go back there but it’s obviously a mission.

Grasmere is nice and pretty central. You cant really go wrong as there are so many decent walks and the views are stunning where ever you stop.

Hawskhead , High Wray and Elterwater all very nice to.

not quite the lakes but i stopped in a great air BnB in Sedbergh (actually Yorkshire Dales but about 20 min drive to Windermere) it is a great little village couple of decent pubs and restaurants and some amazing walks. It is very close to the England's biggest waterfall to which is a nice walk abiet a bit steep when you get close to fall.

For a music fan it is a must I'd say. It is predominantly jazz based but you'll find all sorts, and you'll definitely find Blues if you like that. If you don't like Jazz you shouldn't let that put you off, it's not the off the wall Jazz or experimental stuff it's more street Jazz that you cannot fail to enjoy. In fact some of the best live stuff just happens in the street, 7 or 8 guys all on different  instruments making the best noise you've ever heard.

Safety wise, I won't lie it does have a reputation but all can say is we never once felt unsafe. Just do like you do in all big cities and keep your wits about you, don't stray to far in neighbourhood you don't know (only at night, days are fine). We went to a few clubs in semi rough areas but we just used Uber door to door.

If you're not really in to music then it's definitely worth a few days. If you really like it then fill your boots and stay as long as you can.

Bath is definitely one of the nicest towns/cities in the UK, cliche as it is to say it.

I also didn't go to Bath until later in life and to be honest, I didn't even realise cities like that existed in the UK, where everything is made uniform out of sandstone and it has a real unique feel to it that feels unlike any other town/city.

I'm not sure if they still do it during covid times, but may well do as its outdoors, but they do a great free walking tour (and genuinely free not one where they say its free but they expect a tip at the end, as its subsidised by the mayor's office) next to the actual Roman baths.

Bristol is great. Especially in the old town/by the harbour. I think the Cabot circus/actual centre is a bit disappointing but once you push out in the old town and towards Clifton it's a nice city.
