So if we have a squad that should finish 5th, but we finish 8th, he's done a satisfactory job?

The FA Cup last season, whilst of course great, only masks what was once again, a failure to finish in the top 4, where this side should have been, for the past 2 seasons.

He needs a cup or top 4 for me.

The fact Liverpool/Chelsea/Man United are all stronger this year, is irrelevant too.

We were stronger than two of those last season.....And Rodgers failed to finish above them then.

Have you not contradicted yourself there? You are saying finishing 5th last season and winning the FA Cup wasn't a satisfactory job but you follow it up by saying he needs to finish top 4 or win a cup!!! So we lose, say, 4 of the next 6 matches and Top has had enough and gets rid of Brendan who do we get in?

Arsenal have spent £110million on 3 players in the last couple of weeks and look at where they are.

I think its about time some people took a reality check and realise the last 5-6 years have been absolutely out of this world as far as being a Leicester fan is concerned. Yes with the squad we have now we should be pushing for Europe every season and hopefully doing well in the cups but we should also remember we are still 'little Leicester' even the commentators on sky last night had such a love in for West ham it was embarrassing.

You've got to be joking right. He's won us the FA cup and broken the top 6 twice in a row. One bad result and we're now questioning his credentials?

I am critical of Rodgers for the west ham defeat, but we are in the 2nd game of the season, granted our league performances have been shocking for a while, but I would say not at this moment of time.

We won the FA cup and finished 5th twice.  However much he frustrates me with his dodgy selections and obsession of possession football, as long as he keeps us up the right end of the table and we are competitive in cup competitions I will support him staying as manager.

I think it’s fine to say he’s done some great things yet at the same time admit hasn’t learnt and doesn’t change when we can all clearly see what’s going to happen.

The usual response to that kind of opinion is “You know better than the manager, how would you change these things then”. Well that’s not for me or us to say, that’s why he’s getting paid the reddies, but if it clear to us he’s doing the same thing over and over again and we can see it’s clearly going to fail why can’t he?

I don’t expect to see us turning out the same thing without fail and without trying to change things time and time again.

What the quote? “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results”.

We are too easy to play against at times. Pundits were raving about West Ham last night, as good as they were (Infact I question if they actually were) they really didn’t need to be, we were that poor, we’ve played into their hands and gifted them the games the in the last 3 against West Ham.

I do generally agree with your post but I dunno where this part is coming from? I can't recall our last poor performance off top of my head? We were shocking last night but deserved to beat Wolves and deserved to beat Manchester City at Wembley.

Now, let's be clear, I know it's very easy to have a knee-jerk reaction after one game....

But the reality is, for me, it's not just 'one game'.

Tonights/last night game is a regular occurrence for us.

Pretty much every defeat we have, looks exactly the same.

Slow ponderous possession, doing us more harm than it benefits us, passing the ball straight to the opposition, goal.

When I go back, and look over our results from last season, so many of our bad results were exactly the same.

Everton at home - All the possession, but unable to cope with the counter and physical threat of DCL + Richarlison.

West Ham Home + Away - Absolutely battered at home and schooled tactially away.

Leeds Home - Again, being purely down to the opposition having more energy whilst we were too lethargic.

Southampton Away - Couldn't even look threatening against 10 men! Look at how West ham dominated us in comparison.

I even look at positive results.

2-1 win at Brighton.....Slow, ponderous, saved by a mistake allowing Amartey to nick it.

3-1 win at home to Liverpool....Battered for 70 minutes, fortunate free kick and Allison+Kabak mix up gets us points.

2-1 win at Man Utd.... Struggled against a reserve side! Again, slow and lethargic.

1-0 win last week at home to Wolves....Terrible 2nd half, barely deserved a point let alone 3.

Now I get we're here to win trophies, and an FA Cup is better than 4th, from a fans perspective.

But even in the final, Schmeichel was realistically our Man of the Match, in a game where we created nothing.

It's so frustrating.

We all know what his line up will be before a game, so do our opponents!

Predictable, naive and every single defeat/bad result....Even good results! Look the same.

Rightio,

Think you need to hop into the bin.

Two top 6 finishes an FA cup and a charity shield…. Ghastly isn’t it.

Shocking probably was a too strong word, but I will still consider them below par, the last good performance I remember in the league was first half against west brom.  I dont remember many good performances in the games leading up to that either.

I know this squad is capable, as every so often he changes things up, where we play more direct and that has led to better results and more entertaining games.

But its good we agree on the other points which were the main ones relevant to this thread.

There is nothing wrong with questioning him tactically when he gets it wrong. He gets it right more often than not.
When it is wrong it seems to be drastic.
Just because you question him does not mean you want him sacked immediately.
Well I don’t anyway.
The issue for me seems to be when the going gets tough we crumble and show no fight. That’s the difference between Rodgers side and what we had with Ranieri and O Neil.

No team in the world wins every single game. One of these threads pops up every single time we lose a match. I think some people just get off on moaning.

When he has fewer than 4 first team defenders injured and our new signings have bedded in.

Our play yesterday and vs Wolves was hampered by Amartey playing CB. We can't execute our plan if one of our centre backs has a poor passing range and vision. West Ham just set up to nullify us, they had 10 men marking 7 out the game leaving our back 3 to pass between themselves. Smart from Moyes but it only worked because we made stupid mistakes, but that comes from pressure. If we are to play this way we need a plan for these situations. Perez sending off meant Rodgers never got a chance to implement it.

Have people seriously forgotten everything from the end of 2015-16 to Brendan's arrival? Or our entire history pre-2015? Brendan is consistently making this team more than the sum of its parts, like MON did at Villa before they decided regularly qualifying for Europe wasn't good enough and decided to get themselves relegated. These posts are beyond embarassing, fans of literally any club that stumble upon this will have a field day with it. Just f***ing stop, we can't compete financially with at least 6 clubs in the Prem, basically every defender at the club has had time out with injury in the last two years and we've still finished 5th twice and won the FA Cup for the first time in our history. Brendan has done a better job than literally any manager we've ever had, behave yourselves and stop making us look like spoilt brats.

Completely agree with this - how dare Rodgers not ensure we win every match, how dare he tell a player to get sent off, how dare he put together a back 4 of our only fit defenders.

Honestly, get in the bin.

You don't have to agree with every decision he makes, but 5th place finishes and a cup win are complete proof that he gets far more right than he gets wrong.

Best manager we've ever had in my opinion.
