I wonder if Rodgers will persist with Maddison. I assume Ricardo will start over Castagne. Win this and avoid defeat in Naples, and we will do well.

Think Maddison will start this one too, if only to pack the midfield more and allow Vardy to play as the most advanced player on the pitch.

Rodgers will view this as a game where it'll be important not to get overran in the middle of the pitch, so Inheachio comes on as an impact sub again (probably Lookman or Daka too).

We then have a run of games when we might experiment with being more attack minded, where I hope we see more of the Vardy/ Inheachio partnership that worked so well last season.

Will be likely the same starters + Perez knowing Rodgers, but would like to see some light rotation with Daka, Lookman, Nacho and Soumare starting. Vardy and Tielemans cant play every game again, and Maddison and Albrighton dont need to play. Happy with any defence, glad we can rotate a bit there. Something like this might be fun:

Kasper

Amartey Evans Soy

Ricardo Soumare Ndidi Castagne

Nacho Lookman

Daka

Would love to see a Daka / Nacho partnership start the game. Thought they looked good together pre-season.

Would be buzzing with that.

Vardy does not need to start this game.

Daka should get a meaningful run-out, and personally I would pair him with Nacho.

I'm fully expecting, what Rodgers views as our strongest 11 or at least the strongest 11 he'd pick to play against a difficult team.

If we're taking this seriously we have to play our strongest team against these.

What is our strongest team? For me it's one that doesn't involve Maddison or Perez and on current form Barnes. Our strongest team on paper could include several players who are out of form. As much as many people don't like 3 at the back, if Barnes isn't on form then a 3-5-2 with Vardy and Iheanacho has to be our strongest side.

For me it's Kasper, Vestergaard, Evans, Soyuncu, Ricardo, Bertrand, Ndidi Soumare, Tielemans, Vardy, Iheanacho.

I love Barnes and I'm sure he'll find his form again but he's done very little so far this season and Maddison should be nowhere near the starting 11.

Either Maddison and Barnes play and we have to watch another insipid attacking performance or Maddison and Barnes don’t play and we have to suffer it against Brighton. Which game is more important?

How much of Soumare have you seen to know that he's a better choice?

Nothing but how demoralising must it be for the likes of Soumare/KDH/ Iheanacho/Daka (I'm aware they don't all play the same position but formation could be changed) to be sitting on the bench when Maddison is offering nothing in every single game. I'm honestly amazed he started today. We obviously don't see what happens in training but on performances alone, it's a mystery how Maddison makes the starting 11.

                            Kasper

Ricardo Vestergard  Soyunchu  Thomas

AlbrightonKDH Soumaré Lookman

                       Daka  Nacho

As tempting as it is for Evans, I wouldn't want to see him risk a further injury as he's our best chance at keeping the whole defence in check.

I'd like to see Thomas back and also Ricardo if fully fit.

I think some of key players can be rested whilst still fielding a strong enough team to see these off.

Rest Vardy, 100%, same with Ndidi, Tielemans & Barnes. Not so much for fitness, but more risk of injury.

That midfield would struggle against Napoli

They aren’t going to be a pushover side where we can massively rotate

You are probably right, perhaps Ndidi to be in there too to add some strength.

Its probably me personally wanting to see Soumarè & KDH get some game time.

I think Ndidi has to play as they have a very good midfield, probably see one of KDH or Soumare with Youri
