I didn’t bother ringing them today to tell them that I wouldn’t be in. Cut to me getting this text:

We are sorry we are unable to deliver your order to you today due to an unforeseen circumstance, please call us on 0800 028 6306 to re-arrange or we will call you within 24hrs to re arrange delivery. Thanks

Honestly get on at them. You would be amazed what you could get back. When i had bt broadband installed at mine and they fvckd me about i was complaining daily. From a 24month contract i only had to pay for 10months and got 6 months free bt sport thrown in as a goodwill gesture.

Just get a refund mate, you’d be better off sitting on the floor than waiting for this lot to sort their shit out.

I went through customer services and the more they tried to fob me off i demanded to speak to a manager/supervisor. In the end you will get through to someone who can give you something back. Start with customer services and go from there.

Aah  then they have your money and your sofa and you are just left with the strongly worded email to the MD. It will land with one of their underlings that will make sure you problem doesnt ever need to bother the MD.

Thing is the sofa was a bargain and I still want it

So does the guy who's supposed to deliver it by the sound of it.  If the item's still listed online I'd leave a 1 star review with a mini rant about the terrible delivery service, might only give you minor catharsis but might also get the attention of a pr monkey.

Not sure quite how, but I suspect Maddison and Wellens have a hand in this sofa disaster.

Well if It is a corner sofa and Maddison is delivering it, it will end up at the first house you get to on your street.

Of course. But it isn’t just them. It’s mainly Perez’s fault. And probably down to Rodgers’ stubbornness too.

Spoke to them today and they are now delivering next Friday. The lady has made a note on the order to advise I get compensated. I need to call up as soon as it is delivered to confirm. I wonder what I’ll get. I did say to them you don’t want me telling all my family and friends to never shop at Argos do you.

The distance selling act refuse delivery ask for a full refund

I know Una isn't going for this option but I've a feeling this may not apply as sofas are generally made to order aren't they? Custom/bespoke products are definitely an exception to this law.

Wow, its unbelivable you've got so much time to waste on such a menial issue haha. Just email the CEO. My new dining chairs from dunelm were delivered to the wrong address (same house number as mine, but on the wrong street) so i had to walk round and pick them up. Emailed the CEO of dunelm, 100% refund. Emailed the CEO of DHL, £50 gift card. It's pointless going round and round in circles with call centre employees who do not have the authority to give you what you want.

Emailing the CEO does tend to get instant results.

Student Finance were messing me around a few years ago, it had gone on for months.

Found the CEO's email, copied in the Minister for Universities, my local MP and the woman I'd been dealing with.

Had the money in my account in 24 hours lol
