Both have been poor so far, but need to be given more time to settle. Soumare and Daka took time to get used to the way we play and are now starting to show their promise.

Perhaps these two players will end up being busts, but we've been on their backs way too early. Both of them ideally would have been eased into the team like Bouba and Patson, but instead were asked to step in much too early because of injuries.

I think that’s true of vester because of a disrupted pre season but Bertrand should have been better. As others have mentioned, perhaps his covid experience wasn’t straightforward….

You’ve started a thread entitled “The Southampton 2” to ask people not to refer to The Southampton 2.

Up until this thread I’d never heard of The Southampton 2.

Now, thanks to you, I’m fully aware of the nickname The Southampton 2.

Has your “Southampton 2” thread worked out as you hoped it would?

Well, alternatively, you might have engaged with the content/sentiment of my post.

Is this related to the Moscow 25?

Do you need to pay £600 to apply for a visa to enter Hampshire now and have travel/hotels booked by an agent approved by Matt Le Tissier?

I hope not. I've just entered the ticket ballot and really can't afford this, unless a large number of you buy a car off me in the next couple of weeks.

I did. I told you I’d never heard “Southampton 2” until you said it.

Can we just stop with ‘The Southampton Two’ thing? - They are the Leicester two actually.

Bertrand is a good player and Vestergaard is not nearly as bad as some of you make out. He just looks a bit funny and is an easy target - an Ormendroyd/Crouch type who stands out.

The negativity doesn’t help and the criticism is mostly sheep like behaviour - people just saying it because lots of others are saying it. It’s intellectually lazy.

Get behind them and support our team!

No need to make a mountain out of a molehill…lol

It’s a descriptive, not ascriptive, term - substantively no different from “the Moscow 25” or “our Belgian Lads”.
You’re the one who seem to automatically ascribe negativity to the term, but they’ll have to ‘earn’ commendation or condemnation like other LCFC players.

Sorry mate but why aren’t we allowed to criticise the pair, a forum is designed for a various range of opinions, both positive and negative.

Bertrand & Vestergaard have deserved criticism recently, because their performances have been poor.

When they produce then they’ll get praised, as seen with Bertrand in pre season 👍🏻

Bertrand has been the worst signing IMO so far, which is very odd given that in preseason he was impressive. But any player needs half a season minimum before passing judgement. Illness probably did play a part, give a player a run of games and they will improve. Cases in point are Daniel Amartey and Bouba Soumare. James Justin and Harvey Barnes the same in the past. Also the team in general had been struggling and it's not just because of those two players, so it's not so easy to come in.

Last season we were spoilt by Castagne and Fofana who were immediately brilliant. That is not the norm unless you are a proven world class player. Jadon Sancho at 75m has done nothing for Man United yet as a comparison.

Except right from the off they have not been afforded that opportunity.
Before the first game it’s been, “If you sign two of the defence that we scored 9 past you’re going to ship goals”. They haven’t started with a clean slate and the negativity has been set from the start.

As I clearly stated both were dog shit prior to them signing, I shan't be accepting any sheep like behaviour. I don't get why some fans suddenly think either player is going to do well here. Bertrand has declined massively in the last 2 years and Vestergaard has been a horror show since he came to England and we've been tucked up.

I honestly think my 1 year old daughter doesn't make that same mistake as Jannick today, she'd have protected the area better if she was clutching a bag of crisps and someone was coming towards her.

You’re too intelligent to reduce them to just ‘shit’ Ric.

But that’s NOT why they’ve been referred to on odd occasions as the “Southampton Two”, and accordingly on those few occasions the term has NOT always been employed critically.

With the “Moscow 25” I genuinely thought this was some kind of U18’d LCFC attendance or something.

back to the topic, both combined horrendously for Moscow’s 3rd goal! Vesty just gets beaten far too easily and far too often, I genuinely feel embarrassed for him! And Bertrand had tucked in too narrowly thus practically giving Moses a gimme for an assist. It’s concerning how poor they are at the moment!

I'll be really honest, my natural inclination is to support players and I thought people saying this when they signed were talking out of their anus holes but, now they've played more games, I'm beginning to wonder if those fans had a point. I still think Bertrand is decent, he looked good before he got Covid and I still think he'll prove a decent buy but Vestergaard just doesn't look up to it. Again, I criticised others for getting on to him in just his first few performances but the more I see of him, I have to call it as I see it, he's looked surprisingly weak for such a big guy and just seems so ill-suited to a side like our's.

However, as I said in the Vestergaard thread, I really hope it's just a confidence thing and that we will soon see a much better player playing for us but right now I think the criticism is justified, he looks a liability every time he steps onto the field. I feel for him because I think he must surely be better than what we've seen so far.
