The atmosphere in SK1 was pretty good I thought.

The Albania song was particularly good and really took off second half.

Agreed, most of those around us were STH in their regular seats though.

Lad behind us tried to get an alternative version going where the second half was:

“How do we get there?  We don’t know

we’ll have to stop in Kosovo”

I liked that, reminded me of a cracking few days in Seville”

Nothing but it’s the kind of incidents what warns a club off introducing any area where the demographic is going to fit roughly the same demographic of such offenders.

Only have to see what that clueless copper came out with at the start of year about how safe standing areas will lead to increased drug taking, disorder etc. Just utter nonsense but how it’s perceived is a huge thing to LCFC.

For me, the rise in drug taking and other forms of anti social behaviour is likely to be correlated to socioeconomic and political circumstances in the country. Not trying to make excuses for poor behaviour, but I think it didn’t help having so many frustrated people stuck at home for so long as well. It’s like the cats been let out of the bag for some and they are going absolutely wild.

Cocaine use seems to be rising in general and at the football as well. The interesting question to ask is why are numbers rising so dramatically? Availability? Desire? Or something else? It is a shame if the club use these isolated incidents as a stick to beat fans over the head with. I feel like football is going through a “moment” right now with drug use and this kind of behaviour but it shouldn’t prevent them from seeking to manage and improve the atmosphere. In fact, maybe if the atmosphere and the football was more enjoyable, they wouldn’t need the drugs! lol

Not sure about that last bit. Also the socioeconomic climate is an excuse and probably not the right one. With people not being able to work and having less expendable income, you'd think the last thing they'd want to do is 'blow' it all on drugs. This time of moronic behaviour will always be there regardless of a better atmosphere or not! The club are better off banning those with substances found on them or using them in the toilets. Should be a zero tolerance policy in my opinion.

This is right, it's not limited to football in any way but i guess it's easier to label as a football issue.

I wasn't in my usual place yesterday where I'm surrounded by my mates. It really hit home what a sorry state this club has become off the field. Clappers, cringeworthy goal music, both of which so many people lap up and you go around the ground and there's virtually no nod to or history whatsoever. It's all just so sanitised. Yesterday I was surrounded by these lads in their 20s who kept going SIIUUUU all game. Like seriously, why? I am starting to question why I still go. I will always support Leicester City but this just isn't for me.

The match-day “production” is getting to the point where I don’t even enjoy going to home games anymore, instead, it’s the away games I look forward to. It’s the goal music that is the complete worst; scoring a goal/full-time can be one of the most euphoric moments in football but that experience is completely drowned out by some random sh*te song from the 2016 charts.

I've had to start watching our highlights on mute so I don't hear the music again

Have to say I agree with most of this. Cocaine use in general is massive now, go to any large event and you’ll see somebig groups of 20 somethings blatantly on it.

My take is that with the people in power seemingly getting away with what they want (party gate, cocaine in Westminster etc), faith in police/authorities falling, being cooped up for a long time and a squeeze in the cost of living is a cocktail for people to think **** it and do what they want. I work in schools and have to say it seems (I have no data to back this up) that antisocial and violent behaviour is in on the up. So it seems to me like more of a reflection on society as a whole than just football.

Same. The noise of the clappers makes my skin crawl. I double tap on the Youtube video when we score to skip past the goal music.

Apologies - I wasn't trying to condone the behaviour and the last bit about a better atmosphere preventing drug abuse was more of a light-hearted comment concerning recent form. Pitch invaders etc, should be banned, I was just drawing attention to the fact that anti-social behaviour and rising drug use is not unique to football and so the solution to it is also probably "outside" of football in a long term sense.

Regarding the bit I've highlighted, it's rational to assume that if it is in your best interest to save money when you have little, then it would be rational not to spend lots of it on drugs/drink, but unfortunately not everyone will come to see it that way when in that position, especially if they are of insecure standing in society and/or addicted in some sense. If it was that simple, then we would never see those at the bottom of society on drugs. You could make the argument that a drug addiction led them there from a stable, middle class life but more often than not there is some underlying issue, whether it be mental health or something socioeconomic, or often a combination as the latter can bring on the former.

Anyway, at risk of this getting a little too off topic - I really do hope that the club consider rearranging the seating/any potential standing areas in the stadium so as to maximise any benefit to the atmosphere. It seems like such a no brainer to me, yes, a bit of a shame for those few who would have to move or now get stuck in but I am sure that a good offer could be struck with those who would complain at relatively low cost to the club (e.g, discounts on the following season's tickets etc.). (Un)fortunately I live outside of the city and so I rarely travel to home games these days but from my occasional experience + what you see on T.V, the match day "experience" has gone backwards - there is surely a balance to be struck between a fun, family friendly day out and a more serious football experience. Create a cauldron of a stadium and this potentially leads to more points on the board, this leads to more money in the bank. It feels like we are only a few steps away from having pre-approved chants rolling on screen in an odd football karaoke type fashion!

They’re everywhere.

Haha there is an irony in that flags etc have to be fire retardant but you can freely bring cardboard in.

Was extremely weird last night. Barely any of the regulars where I stand. I say stand yesterday I had to sit for the first time in about 13 years due to some randoms behind me. Apparently they had had season tickets previously for years but had to give them up and then couldn’t get one and missed the rise of us. It was like their lcfc memory stopped years ago and then reignited last night as they were complaining about Pearson being sacked and Sousa coming in and losing his first games.

I moved seats for this game to see what it is like elsewhere (as I might move my season ticket for next season). Went into SK3 (normally in C2). Atmosphere was better but compared to C2 it's not really that hard.

It is weird how you get used to people around you though. I almost felt awkward sitting somewhere else.

Now I'm of a certain age, and definitely feeling it these days, i might make a cardboard sign saying "Please don't stop the game if I keel over"!  :P

Cocaine usage is not a football problem, it’s a society problem. It’s rife and normalised. I was outside a pub a few days ago and I overheard some woman asking her mate if she wants to get a “bag”.

Yeah, I'm friends with people who have no interest in football and they are regular users. Coming to think of it, I don't know many people a similar age to me who haven't taken cocaine. I don't know if that says a lot about society or myself.

Fair play to all the randoms who managed to get a ticket last night - it was their chance to join in with the chants.  Since we left the championship its hard to call players over  - yet hamsa did selfies with loads of kids in front of B3.  SO what if they ask for shirts.

Clear us regulars are way too cynical!  IMO more tickets should be available to kids - thery are the next gen of fans.

The "non regulars" made a right racket against Brighton and Watford. Just needs to be channelled properly.

There aren't many people in our ground who actually know many songs or how to get something started when a certain group aren't there.

It really was a glimpse into what it would be like every game. ****ing horrid.

still think we should all chant  "twat twat twat twat" to the goal music - it would make us all smile.

this is it - this is the answer

I keep harking back to the title winning season and the way pretty much everyone in the ground would sing along to Hey Jude just before kick off. Proper goose bumps. Now the music volume makes my ears cower into my brain to seek relief.
