As the title suggests really…

I’m after a new coat, you know the one that you’ve had for years because it just does it’s job well? I’m after that. I don’t mind spending a bit of money too as it’s going to last me a good few years at the very least (god I can feel myself getting older as I typed that)

So many don’t really actually do a job of keeping you warm these days so if you have any brands/lines or specific coats you’d recommend - I’m all ears!

Many thanks

I was lucky enough to find a Maine (is that Debenham's own brand)waterproof/windproof lined and padded jacket with detachable hood in a charity shop which I bought for £3.95 !! It's warm and has zips as well as poppers up to the neck and a lined hood. Excellent and at an unbelievable price. I know doesn't really help you, just thought I'd mention it with some degree of smugness.

Tk Maxx are awesome for coats. I was after a coat last month and ended up buying three from there, only about £30 each, were meant to be over £200 each - they had loads of down padded coats.

Honestly Superdry's windcheater range hasn't let me down, can usually pick one up for about £50 on their website if you aren't fussed about having the hottest new set of colours.

You’ll look good in Barbour, but you won’t be warm.

Depends on budget but I tend to look at the outdoor professional makes

Patagonia, Montane, Rab those sort of companies

Warmth is more about layers than just 1 big bulky jacket that can only be used for 1 season

Warmest ever jacket I had was a down feather one. I’d make that part Non negotiable.

Trouble is  I now live in a place where it’s expected to be 23c on Christmas Day so no point replacing :(

But you said you’ve got cash to spend so you’ll have to get yourself a Stone Island.

I've had one of these for many many years (at least 10) and it's still as good as new ...  I've worn it during a blizzard on the south downs and along with some thermals and a zippo hand warmer it kept me warm all day ...  the hood is padded and very warm and the coat does up to your nose.   If you shop around there maybe some of last years even cheaper ...   and it may sound a lot but believe me it is good value for money.

I’ll never forget going into Walkabout the morning of the helicopter crash

A good couple of hundred West Aam fans turned up, and pretty much every single one was wearing Canada Goose.

Clearly had all come off the back of a lorry for them all to be wearing the same thing

Was expecting Del Boy to walk in at any second 😂😂
