Thanks for the bump, made me realise I am running out of time to throw that kettle over a pub.

I have managed to improve my routine this year and wake up between 5:30 and 6:30 regardless of what I have planned.

Still didn’t go to NYC but tbf don’t even want to now.

You changed your mind about honeymooning there then?

Yeah just not feeling it now. We are trying to think where to go. We are not in to beach holidays and doing nothing.

No us neither. Our honeymoon was in the middle of lockdown in Alicante lol and as lovely as it was, I can't really recommend it!

What do you fancy? Indonesia and Bali? An African safari? Mexico with the history but avoiding Cancun? If I could go absolutely anywhere right now I'd pick Vietnam, and have a combination of the cities, history, and then a few days on the beach

We only went to Ho Chi Minh City for one day, but it was brilliant. Love to go back.

I'm glad I've been to NYC, but I was glad to leave after 5 days. Never really experienced that anywhere else.

Not feeling nyc?!? I’ve never heard that said before - Why!! It’s got everything, you can’t get bored there.

what didn’t/don’t you like about it that means you don’t want to go back?

I don’t dislike anything and enjoyed it when I was there years back. Tbh I might change my mind and want to go again. What would you recommend doing there?

Ah fair enough. In terms of recommendations, literally everything. Broadway show, high lines, atleast half a day at 9/11 memorial, Statue of Liberty and Ellis island, day at Central Park, 3am apple store visit, skyscrapers in Manhattan, sport at MSG, the Yankees in the bronx, easy day trip to Philly. So much fun, what a city

I went there many times in my 20s as had family just over the river. As a first time tourist the city is an amazing place to visit yes, but the more I went there the more it just seemed dirty, expensive and unfriendly.

I have been a couple of times and am not the hugest fan. I found it really claustrophobic surrounded by skyscrappers all the time. Central park was a welcome relief! In terms of US cities I much prefer places like Washington DC or San Diego.

I once walked from Washington Heights down to Battery Park. - pretty much the length of Manhattan Island, straight through Central Harlem in the process. There was a time in which it wouldn't have been advisable to do that. Broadway was originally the Wickquasgeck trail, carved into and snaking through the brush, swamps and outcrops of Manhattan by its Native American inhabitants. In another life, I was in a band that was close to relocating from London to Queens and used to enjoy the East Village scene - although is was rough as **** back then. The Big Apple isn't for everyone, but it's like no other city in the US and certainly worth a bite.

I prefer the West Coast to the East, find it more interesting geographically and with the exception of parts of LA, the people are more laid back. I tend to avoid cities and I'd rather be in the desert or the high Sierras but in California, along with San Francisco, I do enjoy San Diego. La Jolla is charming and Mission Beach used to have a very alternative feel/vibe to it.

Fair enough. I’ve lived in London for 11 years so I’m used to the last three negatives you list lol. I find the magic of nyc and London is you can never ‘do’ them. You can visit and do as much as humanly possible, go again in 5 years and it’s completely changed. Only two cities in the world that have that pull, imo. I worked in Washington DC for 1.5 years. Very energetic and happening place but far more liveable

we started out honeymoon in New York, then flew to Montreal, did a few days there, travelled to Algonquin and then over to Toronto finishing in Niagra....   we got a bit of everything in that. NYC was super busy, montreal and toronto quiter, but still lots to do and then Algonquin is a national park with basically no one living there and lots of hills and lakes...

I think that claustrophobic feeling is what wore me down after a few days. And the incessant noise. Most City trips we've done, when back at the hotel it's relatively quiet, not in NYC!

We decided against sport at MSG as it as about £150 each to watch something we had no interest in. However, they do, or did, a behind the scenes tour. Highly recommend that. And the Intrepid Museum. Obviously went for a beer at the NYC Foxes bar

Why would you go to the apple store at 3am?

Yeh slowly realising going by other comments I’m the minority here in enjoying mega cities! I went to see the NY rangers at MSG, can’t remember tickets being that expensive but the concessions were astronomical. Those that drop a b0llock at prices/quality at the KP would have a seizure at US sports. I don’t mind ice hockey and went fairly often whilst in DC. 24/7 Apple store underground at fifth avenue, it’s arguably a tourist attraction to go middle of the night!

NYC is the only city where I've had that experience, loved Dubai, Bangkok - are they mega cities? I enjoyed it but was glad to leave - we were accidentally booked on a Caribbean cruise the week after, which was a welcome relief after NYC.

Knicks v Atlanta next week start at $105. Rangers the week after start at $156. So, the KP is a bargain....
