Old thread was locked, we have been linked again:

http://sportwitness.co.uk/agent-held-talks-with-leicester-and-everton-pl-duo-have-not-closed-doors-to-sign-player-in-january/

This is the Spanish media link, mentions Leicester at the bottom:

seems the BR link is what's keeping this alive, i don't think we could take those wages on

We’re not skint, why the **** do people think we’re skint. Having a budget and being skint are two different things.

The end result is the same though.

Exactly. People forget we have owners wealthier than the Glazers.

In the grand scheme of things we haven’t got 30m and Rogers said funds are tight.

We have ran at a lose for the last 3 years worth of accounts, 2018 (34m), 2019 (74m), 2020 (122m), that's a total of 230m.

I imagine 2021 is also going to be another losing year.

We aren't skint because we have owners willing to cover the loses but I doubt we will be throwing cash around in January.

It's all semantics.

The point is the same, we've quite clearly spent the majority of this years budget (as we always do) in the summer. We're not going to make any grand expenditure in January.

And we've absolutely no need for a flakey and inconsistent high profile attacking midfielder on a couple hundred grand a week at a time when we can't actually even field a defence that's not partially made up of midfielders.

It is, and I’m not for one second supporting a transfer like this because it’s not what we’re about and Coutinho left his knees in 2016.

Im just not in the ‘we’re brassic’ camp because it simply isn’t true…. The result maybe the same when looking to sign players, but we’re certainly not skint, we all know how the club operates, having a strict financial policy, and being skint are two separate things.

2003 Leicester were skint, this Leicester just try to operate within their means.

...covid would have had a large impact and structured payments on transfer deals may have been accrued. The owners may have the ability to cover our losses but they are not going to, the fact that they can cover the loss over the agreed covid period in respect of FFP is our saviour!!!

We are supposed to be self sufficient.

...I  suspect if Rodgers asked for a Centre-back to come in, just for the sake of argument, Tarkowski for £25m then I  think we would do it!!!

The loans taken out are earmarked for other off field projects, but I would believe our finance is flexible enough to do something like that.

I think a lot our fans miss this bit, we may have billionaire owners they have always been keen to stress that the club should be self-sufficient

Our 2021 account well benefit from around 28m deferred TV payments form the 19/20 season as our year end was before 31 of May.

There's not a chance in hell we pay 25m for a centre back right now.

If anything comes in it'll be loans.

We're going to need another CB in the summer anyway, this season has shown us we're short and Evans isn't getting any younger.

But you don't so that business in January, especially a January in which Newcastle are going to be desperate to bid for everything and drive the market price up even more than the winter premium anyway.

Of course he did - he’s hardly going to tell everyone we desperately need some players and are willing to spend huge amounts!

He’s also never been big fan of January signings here. We aren’t signing anyone this window

...any manager, should he have the available finance, would make a signing in this window!!!

Our restrictive financial situation prevents him from doing so. As I have said previously, should Rodgers ask for the funds for an essential target within reason, those funds would be made available to him.
