They are very close to breaching FFP, but Purslow will take a lot of risks. They'll comfortably finish above us IMO. This next month or so will put paid to any top 7 aspirations for us.

Don't think comfortably. They've still got mings at the back and full backs that can't defend.

They'll finish 6-9 points ahead of us. We'll be playing catch up to them after January/February. Hope I'm wrong, it's very difficult to predict what we'll do. Everything's pointing towards a horrendous month or two but maybe this will help create a seige mentality.

They just lost to Brentford....

We have better players in every position IMO so that would be hugely disappointing even given all the crap we’re dealing with at the moment . There are also signs that the honeymoon period  for Gerrard may be wearing off so 🤞

Brilliant player when he was at Liverpool. I'm not sure if he is still at that level. I'm not sure how had the finances are looking but we will lose points and places if we don't recruit at the back. Of course we need quality which might be the problem.

Not convinced, they may finish above us but not by that margin.

They are currently 3 point behind, we are going to pick up 20 points minimum, I don't see that picking up 30 points plus.

Theyre paying 65% of his wages. 7m I wages plus the loan fee.

Christ. Some gamble on a bloke with a terrible knee.

I think its pretty exciting for Villa but not guaranteed to be successful. Shows they are willing to take a risk with wages, even if they are only paying part of them.

And played one game more. The only team we’ve played twice too is the runaway leaders.

This is Villa backing Gerrard here but without sensibility. I just can’t see Coutinho performingly consistently. Ings was another ‘great idea’ signing by them but in reality quite dim.

As my Villa supporting friend said he could just be another Ross Barkley type loan.

And doesn't he currently have COVID?

This is a 50/50 deal I think, it’s either he’s going to go berserk and score shed load or it’s going to go very badly for Villa. Big name but is he still a Big player only time will tell, although I am slightly jealous.

The ings transfer doesn't get anywhere near the flack it deserves. 30m for a striker with terrible knees and an inability to play in a 2.

Villa have not replaced Grealish as a captain and that Coutinho can't do. Captaincy is underestimated as a pillar of a successful team as Wes so often proved.

Option to buy is interesting

any news in what that is ???

Looks like €40 mil option to buy in June. A lot of money for an injury prone 30 year old by that point, with 1 year left on his contract!

It's all about fitness isn't it, very much the same as when we've seen the likes of James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale pitch up here at mediocre clubs. Keep Coutinho fit and motivated and he'll be as good, if not better than Grealish was for them.

I'm not arsed he's not coming here, we have way more pressing concern than an attacking midfielder, however talented he is.

Oh I agree with that no doubt about it.

Would be a very villa signing. They spunk money on anything.

We weren't really in for him, he's a superstar and has his own motives for coming to England for 5 months. But as I've said before I'll rather want to see hardworking grafters here, even if they have lost a match, they have given it their all. And instead of laughing and joking with the opposition players after the game, they have collapsed on the pitch in disappointment and tiredness.

We have like three healthy senior players and you want that number to be zero.
