Grebfromgrebland Posted 6 January 2022 Posted 6 January 2022 I think he'll do really well at Villa for some reason

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 6 January 2022 Posted 6 January 2022 Glad he's not coming here, I want hardworking team members here not individual stars 2
Tanya Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 This is going to sound bizarre but I don't really want him here. He'd destroy our wage structure and he's injury prone and I'm not sure he'd do the hard yards defensively Brendan wants. Rather sort out the defence than worry about the attack atm. 4
splinterdream Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 These sort of transfers rarely work (see Everton), we'd be better off gambling the money on young talent or looking at the lower leagues 1

Gav_LCFC14 Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 The rumour is Villa are paying around £200k a week of his wages. Insane money for a loan.

If fit and that's a massive if, they could well finish ahead of us this year. Villa seem to have endless investment. Edited 7 January 2022 by Chocolate Teapot
Pliskin Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 Speaks volumes that a bigger club hasn’t snapped him up. Can always go two ways these type of moves, but if he comes good then Villa have some serious firepower.
Brainy Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 Gerrard just going down the "sign pals" route then
st albans fox Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 Option to buy is interesting any news in what that is ???

This next month or so will put paid to any top 7 aspirations for us.
crisp packet Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 In before the lock . Great signing for villa that… ! Jealous but not what we need atm…
jmono84 Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 Think it could upset some of his teammates seeing how he’s immediately going to earn more than double than theirs especially if he can’t get fit and ready for the premier league which is a lot more intensive than when he was last here. I would like to think we showed an interest but pulled out when we seen the wage demands. No chance is he worth that much and a massive gamble. Bad signing at that money for me.

Bad signing at that money for me. ..if you are Man City or United or perhaps even Newcastle it would be a punt!!! This was a move I feared we would be looking to make and I am relieved someone else has taken this option up. Procuring a player of his ilk and questionable fitness and at that price, it is not what we are about. Paying out that amount of money in our situation would a dereliction of duty by the owners as it possible could lead to putting our finances under more pressure than it should be. Ground development and added infrastructure right now is enough for us to contend with. Bringing in young talent from our academy and building a platform of youth, epitomises what we should aim to be. Edited 7 January 2022 by sacreblueits442 Spelling error. 1
Jobyfox Posted 7 January 2022 Posted 7 January 2022 From the BBC: "Villa will be paying less than half of Coutinho's current wages at Barcelona and the deal is also understood to be cheaper than the one they struck to take Ross Barkley on loan from Chelsea last season."
