Starting to get a very nasty feeling that we are in a whole heap of financial distress that none of us even imagined, we have sold Mads and yet no really links to any incomings and whilst it is transfer silly season, there is a lot of rumours about clubs circling for some of our gems and links emerging for some of our higher earners who are out of contract in the summer, are we having a fire sale?

Winks and JJ in last year of contracts aren't they I think?  So fairly natural we are listening to offers. Bilal has a release clause so again not much we can do if triggered.  I hope and pray we price anyone out of Fatawu.

 

Agree though that it looks unlikely we will spend much.

I think we are financially ****ed, 2 seasons in the championship in the rolling 3 year period brings allowable losses down to about 61 million at the end of this season?

 

We were 19m in losses last time in the championship despite selling over 100m of players. And I think we can be sure we were negative again last year spending 90m and our wage bill was still astronomical for a newly promoted side.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if we need to be operating in profit this year to not have the league come after us for a 3rd time.

The other plausible scenario that would also prompt a reduction in spending is King Power working towards an exit from the club.

Quite possibly, but if that was the case then why on earth did we not strive to sell anyone before the end of June? I don't see how we complied with PSR for 24/25 only to be massively at risk of failing 25/26 without selling loads of players.

 

We do have a massive squad so it's right to try and move many of them on, especially with 9 out of contract next summer and a horrible reputation for players leaving on a free here.

 

But who knows. I do think we are deliberately trying to make it look like we are doing everything possible to cut costs and not spend as a defence for previous breach.
