There was a moment he came quite far off his line to claim a ball high in the air. I just laughed because Schmeichel wouldn’t have even considered it lol

They actually commented on the RL commentary that Schmeichel wouldn't have ventured out to take, presumably the same ball you're mentioning, that Ward pulled out of the air.

The article that discussed the attributes of Schmeichel, de Gea and Jan Oblak in 'shot stopping' as opposed to 'shot prevention' illustrated the dilemma presented since Huth and Morgan left the team. During '15-'16 they provided essential strong-arm qualities which made up for Schmeichel's 'line-dwelling' mode of play. Evans is a canny, technically blessed CB, yet he's not the physical presences Huth and Morgan brought to the team.

Banks, Shilton and Wallington were all commanding and brave presences in the air in the area. It was an automatic requirement of goalies in them days. But it always had its risks - especially against the brawny CFs of the time and the proclivity of refs to allow a certain amount of physicality to go on.

Not much he could do about the goal but thought he generally had a tidy game. Good distribution and command to come out and catch the ball.

Kasper is our number 1 but I'd be comfortable seeing Ward get the cup games and/or Conference League.

Doubt we will be able to keep him if we get demoted to the Conference

Deserves a run in the cups for sure. Not just after today but his Euros form too.

Must say it’s amazing to have such a quality keeper as backup. We’re lucky he’s not constantly pushing for a move.

Tbf if you're a 28 year old goalkeeper trying to break into PL football today then Kasper has to be pretty high on the list of guys you'd happily play sub for being the son of the man who likely adorned your bedroom walls.  The fact he's a quality GK in his own right also helps.

Top Keeper. If we'd never heard of Schmeichel we'd still have one of the best in the league. Hope he hangs on for a season or two because his time to be number one is coming soon.

I thought it was club policy that a goalkeeper must not leave his line for any reason other than to go into the opposition box in injury time if we are losing. :D

It's Madders time
There's no need to be afraid
At Madders time
We let in goals and our Champions League hopes fade

And in our KP of plenty
We can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around At Madders time

I think adding a few bits with relation to Ward would make it even better

Kasper is 36 in November. I'm not sure what his future plans are but, at some point, we'll need a succession plan.

Ward as the new number one and Iversen as number two is a possibility and could save us a bit of money. The difficulty is keeping them happy in the interim. Ward is already 28 and probably at a point in his career where he needs to be playing.

I'd be perfectly happy with this.

Aside from the really rich clubs, we've got the best backup keeper in the country.

It would have been an obscene save but I just can’t shake that Kasper might have saved the first rather than Ward making the goal as big as possible

Kasper would have saved their second goal and probably would have pulled off a worldwide to save one of the other three goals.

Always thought ward is better at corners but he definitely wasn't today....

Think our sh*** zonal marking didn't help tbf but agree he didn't command himself well today

I know it's petty but after that performance it's annoyed me to see a few of them enjoying a party at his house. Irrational I know but I don't care after that shite!

On Instagram. Posted about 5. May be not happening at that time but interesting if they have training today....... after that yesterday I would assume they would all be heading into Seagrave for recovery and a meeting not hungover in their beds. I'm post nightshift so aware I am grumpy and like I said probably irrationally annoyed but just seems like a lack of care?
