Not much he could do about the goal but thought he generally had a tidy game. Good distribution and command to come out and catch the ball.

Kasper is our number 1 but I'd be comfortable seeing Ward get the cup games and/or Conference League.

Imo he should play in every cup. He’s got an impressive penalty record.

I hate the way a club lets the 2nd keeper play early rounds then drops them for the big games. Must take a bit of motivation away from them

Yep. If you're in the latter stages, you've earned it imo

There was a moment he came quite far off his line to claim a ball high in the air. I just laughed because Schmeichel wouldn’t have even considered it lol

Me too lol

Deserves a run in the cups for sure. Not just after today but his Euros form too.

Must say it’s amazing to have such a quality keeper as backup. We’re lucky he’s not constantly pushing for a move.

Whilst shouting keepers ball . Whole ground heard it I think

People seemed genuinely amazed when he came and took ball so cleanly.

When he got the ball his distribution was fast and accurate.

I sometimes think Kasper has too much in his distribution armoury and it seems to cloud his judgment rather than going for the simple throw or kick.

Was great to be reminded that keepers can actually come off their line.

Imagine if Ward played the FA Cup final. In hindsight, playing Schmeichel was the right call. Chelsea stuck with their cup keeper.

The one where he did come off his line, im pretty sure he regretted his decision half way there but managed to get there lol was a bit heart in mouth.

Sad really that he's probably wasting his career a little bit but eh, someones got to do that job. He will leave when his contracts up I'd imagine and have a few years number 1 somewhere else.

I about fell off my chair, we're so used to not seeing that sort of goalkeeping. Helps massively with a lack of aerial dominance at the back.

If Schmeichel is going next year then Ward has two years left on this deal and he'll probably take over.

Kasper is 36 in November. I'm not sure what his future plans are but, at some point, we'll need a succession plan.

Ward as the new number one and Iversen as number two is a possibility and could save us a bit of money. The difficulty is keeping them happy in the interim. Ward is already 28 and probably at a point in his career where he needs to be playing.

I didn't realise he had that much left on his deal to be fair, so maybe he will wait and see then. Not sure he'll be 100% taking over from Kasper though.

What’s Ron-Robert Zieler up to these days?

I find it amazing that RRL played so many PL games -- I think it was 7. Kasper seemed like he was breaking down (a surgery, or was it 2...and a concussion). I am surprised he hasn't had any down time since Ward came on...

If we do have the kind of January we might be having, I'd like to see Brendan rotate more in the GK position in the PL, just to keep Ward happy, and to keep the competition real. Kasper is going to twist an ankle at some point, and at his age it takes longer for those things to get better...

Schmeichel is an incredible shot-stopper, but the other aspects of his game leave a lot to be desired sometimes and it's cost us in some key moments. Ward on the other hand seems a quietly consistent all-rounder. I doubt he'd have pulled off the FA cup final save that Kasper managed, but in exchange you get more reliable distribution and a better command of the box.

Schmeichel is the better of the two but its not by as much as the minutes would suggest, but the loyalty between him and the club counts for a lot (rightly so) so he's weathered the tougher times without being dropped. Looking at the lineup yesterday for example, there were a number of areas where we looked much weaker than we would have liked, but GK wasn't even a concern and I felt perfectly comfortable with Danny between the sticks - it's not much of a downgrade at all, and arguably Ward is the better choice against a side like Watford who aren't likely to have lots of good chances that need a shot-stopper specialist.

He can feel a bit hard done by, but its the challenge that he faced when he signed and he'd have been aware of that. He's a bit unlucky that Kasper has been so consistently fit (despite everyone else dropping like flies) so he's not had much chance. Surprised we didnt cash in after the Euros if we were confident in Iversen stepping up after Schmeichel.

I thought it was club policy that a goalkeeper must not leave his line for any reason other than to go into the opposition box in injury time if we are losing. :D

He’s looked a very comfortable keeper every time he’s played so it would be interesting to see how he gets on in the league if he was ever given a run in the side.

Can’t deny that Kasper has been world class for us over the years, which is a shame for Ward, but he’s never moaned about being back up and has always looked good when asked to play. I hope he gets a chance when/if Kasper leaves.

So what you're trying to say is that you're comfortable with the current situation lol
