....more than likely CDK, but at £30m it is a bit steep!!!

We have gone for it before, Fofana was deemed to be special, we might just have had our fingers burnt if we are paying that price. Watched him recently, he seems off the boil, probably knows he is off in the summer. He should be playing on Sunday, will have to take a look again.

You get the feeling that Rodgers either wants to keep Maddison in the team or a rebuild would allow him to play without a #10.

A 4-3-3 without Maddison would give him some leeway to play in a way not constrained with the players at his disposal. Having Tielemans and Maddison could be seen as a luxury and losing Maddison would be his preferred option.

Am I going too far in reaching the tentative conclusion, based on this info, that either our summer recruitment is in hand (as usual) irrespective of who the manager might be, or Rodgers will be here for the start of next season and Rudkin & Co are working on his profiles?

Congerton has followed Rodgers from club to club, unless there has been a falling out between them, it is hard to see Rodgers  not backing him.

  It weakens Rodgers position in respect of  moral support or the ability to do his job free of club input on players.

  Congerton appears to be still around, and it will  be interesting to see what does happen to Rodgers career down the line, when Congerton finally walks out the door.

Congerton has only been at Celtic and here with him, this gig at Atalanta seems a big step up from head of recruitment. 

 

Even if it falls through his contract is soon up here and is off apparently.

I think BR may have been forced to accept that our recruiment team can spot a player better than he can, based on Bertrand and Vestergaard. If he's staying, I hope that he's not allowed to make any more mistakes like those in the transfer market.

I don’t know why managers always want to come in and do this. 
 

All Brendan needs to do is hold a meeting with the recruitment team and suggest the traits he wants in a particular player, and then allow them to find them. 
 

Surely it makes their life easier? Managers wanting particular players based on their bias isn’t the best idea as their personalities may not benefit the team. 
 

Clubs like us have to be savvy, it’s clear which players the club have scouted and which players Brendan has scouted. 
 

Overall our recruitment team have done remarkably well, there will always be one or two who don’t work out, we’re dealing with people at the end of the day and not robots, so naturally some won’t settle/struggle to adjust to the way we do things. But overall it’s been excellent. 
 

If I was a manager I wouldn’t suggest a player unless I knew they were exactly what we needed…… it’s clear Rodgers personal requests are a bit odd, his time at Liverpool just proved this;
