you don't think there's a mentality issue in the squad and this is a demonstration of that I'm suprised.

I've mentioned in other posts that the mentality is weak.

I'm not sure a clip of a party on social media either adds or takes anything away from that.

You don’t own them, it’s only a job.

Oh come on, even you, always looking for an argument, can't actually think that having a party after that display was acceptable?

It's a visible demonstration of that. You see de bruyne doing this?

Ignoring it is the biggest problem. If you don't think there's a mentality issue in the squad and this is a demonstration of that I'm suprised.

There's varying degrees of stupidity from the players here - firstly doing it and secondly putting it on social media (or allowing someone else to).

Yes they've had a bad day and going out and having a few drinks is some people's way of coping but it's hardly a very clever one particularly as they play again on Thursday.

Secondly, putting it on social media only adds fuel to the fire. Everyone has a right to a private life but this is beyond dumb. Either they've done it deliberately to say they don't care or they're ****ing stupid.

Rodgers is right, top players have a different mentality and this goes onto demonstrate why they don't have it. The players are too comfortable at the club and think they can get away with it.

The whole they've had a bad day it's a job is a ridiculous line. If you'd ****ed up at work the smart thing to do would not be to go out get bladdered and let your employers see that. People are rightly angry.

This!

It's just a complete lack of awareness of how the fans of the club might interpret this.

Of course they're entitled to their own lives and aren't beholden to us.

However, they are professional football players representing my club - not theirs - and they will have been acutely aware of the rivalry between the two clubs. They will have been aware of how much this would mean to the fans. They will have also been aware of how bad the result was and how gutless the fans of their club would have viewed it. I don't think anyone can argue the wouldn't all be aware of the previous.

With that in mind - to go to a party and be seemingly so comfortable with their failures as well as flaunting it on a publicly accessible social media platform just smacks of unprofessionalism. It probably won't mean the same to Danny Ward as it does to me and, as a fan, I'm aware of that. However, he has some agency in what gets shared or doesn't. It wasn't a huge public function. He could have made certain no pictures were taken and that isn't a difficult thing to do.

More than anything it's the obvious couldn't-care-less attitude that these players have frequently shown of late, both on and off  the pitch. Let's not forget that within the last 18 months or so Hamza was hiding in a cupboard at a pandemic party. This isn't out of keeping with that.

No discipline or respect towards the fans who pay towards their wage, if NP was still around theses bunch of waste men would be dead and buried.

If you think this didn’t happen under Pearson then you need to re-evaluate your thoughts! It happens at a lot of clubs. Just sheer stupidity to have it plastered over social media.

Always good to see a group of players respecting the club, especially after being spanked by your local (and lower league) rivals...oh and to knock us out of the cup that we currently hold.  Well played, lads.
Brendan, great to know you've not lost the dressing room :scarf:

Why on earth they been given a day off after a 2 week break and having just been chinned 4-1?!!

Exactly this. If BR has given these spineless cretins today off then that tells you everything about the manager. Get a backbone!

I can't believe I'm reading people defending this to be honest.

Yes, we don't "own" them, but that's just a bizarre thing to say.

The point is that these are elite athletes, paid £Ms/year to be at peak physical fitness. They've just had two weeks off and could have let their hair down then.

With a premier league game in 3 days time they should be in preparation for that game. The night after an afternoon game they should be absolutely whacked having given every ounce of energy to the pitch.

Aside from posting on Insta, everything about this lacks professionalism, and it's therefore easy to correlate an unprofessional performance with that behaviour.

Completely agree with this.

I'd also say that players like Justin - who have just came back from a big injury - needs to make sure there bodies are recovering and looking after himself.

I see this as two fingers up to all the people who helped him get back to full fitness.

The other two can **** off.

I'm sure it did, and I'm not saying don't do it, go and enjoy yourself but there is a time and place for this.

Getting smashed 4-1 in a local derby vs a mid table championship team is not the time for a party.

Stupidity

I imagine Pearson to be a "work hard / play hard" type manager that wouldn't have a problem with a party or night out if the work had been put in.... Do you have any knowledge in this respect, is that right? Would he have demanded extra training or a punishment for them partying last night?? I suspect he would, be it's only my feeling ... do you know?

Wherever there’s off field trouble Hamza always seems to be there. He should be an established PL player by now given his capabilities but his attitude is stopping him. Loser mentality and not what we want at the club regardless if he’s from the academy or not.

There is a game on Thursday and this is the prep they are giving themselves.

They are paid handsomely because they have to give up shit like this, it's the choice they made when they become pro's.

This behaviour after a defeat and only days before the next game only backs up the comments from BR about the players not having the right mentality to be winners.

Absolutely. Now is surely the time for him to be recuperating with absolute focus, not stuffing lager down his neck.

Maybe his ability to party then train hard is the reason he's got there nickname "machine"?

Needs to buckle down now though, as his mistakes are forgiven in the short term on the back of his injury, but continued displays like his last couple won't look good in the longer term.

I mean, it's not as if there's an ever-growing pile of evidence pointing to the fact that more than a handful of our players are really, really thick.

Totally agree. But people are acting like this has happened for the first time. These lads had a party in the midst of a national lockdown.
