I've seen a few highs and lows over the years but I think the players that won both fa cup and top division in a Leicester shirt has to be the starting point for any fan led statues. On retirement of course.

Failing that then I would love a proper museum, but like a modern immersive one with screens and interactions (like a pretend filbo turnstile or terrace section).

Something with real wow factor, can honour as many people as we like then without the gravitas and issues/debates  that statues bring.

A proper museum is a great shout. If not a statue we could have a waxwork of each of the Premier League winners in that.

Manchester City to unveil Sergio Aguero statue on title anniversary - BBC News

Man City have statues of Kompany, Silva and soon Aguero too.

It's not unreasonable to want statues of the likes of Morgan, Vardy and Schmeichel.

Interesting. I think Arsenal did the same with Henry, Begkamp and Adams too.

For Man City, I would've thought that De Bruyne will go down as their greatest ever player ahead of those 3 though once he's retired though?

I agree, but two of the 3 are still playing, its not going to happen until they leave at the earliest

Yeah that’s true.

Think the main thing for fans is that we want a guarantee/ at least some communication from the club, that stuff like this will happen in the future. Like others have said previously- the club seem very opposed to fan led statues, but won’t do anything themselves on behalf of the fans either.

Personally i just want something from the club to say they are willing taking fan ideas into consideration in the future to make our stadium less bland and instead more personal to our history.

The stadium expansion i’m all here for- but nowhere within the plans state anything that 100% acknowledges our history.

Going back to a comment a few pages ago, feels weird the club not wanting fan funded statues, given a some of the most memorable events of the last few years have been fan started.

Tifos, the vichai walk etc feels odd to not want that at all

293 appearances over 8 years. English  World Cup winner. Not many clubs can boast that. Here is the image for the statue. Passing on to next generation. This is what we should be celebrating.

Only issue is that Shilton is more associated with Forest, and he associates himself more with Forest too. Only in recent years has he started commenting more on us.

Banks is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, so proud he played for us, but he is more associated with Stoke.

It's so different to West Ham, for example, who had a statue of four World Cup winners near Upton Park because three of them (Moore/Hurst/Peters) are all West Ham legends as well as England legends.

I may be wrong but it seems like the owners aren't really interested celebrating anything before they took over.

Well, let's be right what had we achieved before their arrival. Close to going out of business, no Premiership title win, no FA Cup Final win.

We have a lot to be thankful for most of which stems from this family's ownership.

We've won things, only played in the third tier once, and had some of the greatest English players play for us (Lineker, Shilton, Banks as examples).

We are not a fourth division club that is lucky to be playing top flight football and I wish people would stop pretending this.

The recent fortunes of this club changed when they brought Pearson back. With him we wouldn't have gone up because you throw how much money you want at a club but you need the right manager, hence Sousa and, especially, Sven didn't work.

Pearson was the best thing that happened to us, twice.

All clubs should celebrate their history. Football league was started in the 1880s and we have been established since 1884.

I couldn't make it last night so my first in person view will be Sunday. For those that went, first impressions?

Very nice and fitting tribute to a true gentleman.

Banks more associated with Stoke?! I think not!

Shilton does come across as an oddball but I suppose he would talk about his time at a club where he had the most success. Leicester lad that might be an oddball, but he's our oddball.

We had England's two best keepers and that's worth celebrating. That iconic photo tells a story that must be told.

I think most general/neutral football fans would associate Banks with Stoke, yeah.

They are the ones with the statue of him too.

I do agree witth you that we had two of the greatest English goalkeepers of all time, and with Banks one of the greatest of all time, but we've players who are more associate with us and have won more with us.

I think you make some very good points. Banks was an incredible figure in different ways both here and elsewhere but, he wasn't here long and his main achievements weren't with us. On the other hand, a player can be special to us without the team attaining certain things at the same time.

Well he was at the club for seven years, and won the World Cup in 1966 whilst still being a Leicester player.

More needs making of this.

Great article in the programme yesterday about a friendly v PSV in September 66. I was surprised that Banks was still playing for us. Very good team we had out including Dougan, Cross and Gibson

The Banks / Stoke / Shilton thing is full of complexity and revisionism and largely down to money

As far as I understand it, Banks (understandably) had the arseys about being shipped off to Stoke and felt we owed him some money for a unrequested transfer. However, in the 80s, he got a testimonial from us and the damage seemed to be repaired. He was a regular in and around Leicestershire jobbing away for things like Swithland motors. He was no Stoke man then.  ....

As he become old (and increasingly senile), he settled in Stoke and basically loved the attention they lavished on him (presumably as they had no heroes of their own, none alive anyway)

As for Shilts, he is his own biggest fan. he goes where the money goes. Simple as. He's blue blooded Leicester  (watch this is your life on youtube from.the early 80s), fell out with clough (over money, of course)  and restarted kissing the red filth backside as he gets the corporate gigs. Then  as we get good and he gets gigs from us, he starts bleating on about us.or Southampton. Or Derby. Whoever has the wrong basically.
