Very sad. Hopefully we'll acknowledge his passing and contribution on Thursday.

Bet there is some bullshit redtape with UEFA not letting clubs do a minutes applause etc.

I'm sure the singing section will do something.

'The following season, O’Farrell made two key signings. These were midfielders Willie Carlin and Bobby Kellard, who were both signed to add aggression and competitiveness to the side. O’Farrell called them his street fighters. This pragmatic approach worked, with Leicester City returning to the top flight as the 1971 Second Division Champions.'

Could do with a couple of street fighters right now

That was my first season as a regular, sitting on the wall in front of the Main Stand with the other kids. Willie Carling used to do his pre-match warm up in front of us, just running about 20 yards up and down never touching the ball.

What might have been if he hadn’t taken the Utd job with busby sticking his nose in. Read a good interview in the fox fanzine with frank. Very good man and a Leicester legend. Promotion and a cup final. Thank you frank keep the blue flag flying high.

When he was Leicester manager he came to my junior school (Linden in Evington) for a q and a evening and afterwards gave me his autograph which I still have somewhere.

As a nine year old it was a really special evening. I particularly remember someone asking him whether he would rather be at the bottom of the First Division or top of the Second and being annoyed when he never properly answered!

Anyone else on here of a certain age remember him going to their school? Not sure whether he did a tour of lots of Leicester schools or just Linden.

Couldn't understand at the time why he would ditch us for ManU.

I remember hearing a story some time ago but can't remember the source so it may be bullsh*t.

The story goes that the board were rather "old school tie" in those days and when Man U asked after his availability he was told by the board that it was such an honour being asked to manage at Man U that he was obliged to go.

Make of it what you will.
