@K1FOX

Currently 1023 home end tickets available for Palace tbf. They won't shift many of them with the cheapest being £38 a pop.

Weren't we having this debate about the psv game?

Don't ever follow it that closely but given our average attendance is around 31,700 it's not that far off with over a week to go and two home games in a week (and its not on general sale).

I think we'll see as close as possible to what Brendan considers to be his strongest starting eleven. I wouldn't be surprised to see Albrighton start due to his better defensive attributes over Lookman. That leaves the option of bringing Maddison inside where he is more effective:

Kasper

Justin, Fofana, Evans, Castagne

Tielemans, KDH

Albrighton, Maddison, Barnes

Nacho

If BR decides he needs an out and out DM then he may choose to bring in Hamza and the expense of (probably) Maddison. At home, I'm hoping that we go with the more attacking option.

Agree that this is most likely to be the team.

Not too shabby considering we have little to play for in the league.

If you're not willing to play Evans and Fofana twice in 5 days - which is certainly a defensible decision - why would you burn them against Man U.?  Isn't this the more important match?

If those guys are rested, I think one of two things must be true - either Rodgers is still prioritizing the league or he doesn't consider those two his best central defenders (yet).

You really want Evans and Fofana playing against PSV with limited match fitness?

They will, both played Thursday night.

And most are in Block M, if Palace had better support they'd be about gone

I hope so too. This is the team we will start with. I just hope he doesn’t over think it and try to get too clever with it. Hopefully Vardy will be available for the return.

A few on their forum were ragging on us for slow sales at what they consider a bargain ticket price.

And is that a Photoshop?  How can you have dining nooks that haven’t been renovated since the 1950s in a stadium built in 2002?

Well, that's no way to boost the catering sales.  A prawn sandwich just wouldn't taste as good in a room set up for cheap omelets and bottomless cups of coffee, would it?

Would'nt mind Amartey playing the defensive midfield role..seem to remember he played there before his injury

....you either are new to this club or have not been on this forum for too long!!!

The wish to see Amartey in that position should be banished from your thoughts forever.

I think this would be my go to team at this point

Schmeichel

Castagne

Evans

Fofana

Justin

Youri

KDH

Albrighton/Lookman (flip a coin)

Madders

Barnes

Daka/Kel (depends entirely on how high the opposition will play, sounds like PSV will leave some gaping gaps, so Daka seems the obvious choice)

I haven’t had a coffee today so that sounds perfect to me!

@K1FOX

Amazing mate. We’ve nearly sold out a European cup quarter final with 3 days to spare. Will we consistently sell out 42,000? In my opinion we won’t based on how we currently sell cup games. Just my opinion though

This debate about ticket sales v whether we can justify expansion is a bit of a circular argument. If we continue to thrive as a Premier League club we will fill the stadium. Success brings fans and fans (through greater commercial revenues and ticket sales) bring success.

League games will be the barometer. Bigger teams than us sometimes have trouble selling out stadiums in the early rounds of cups – especially League Cup or Europa Conference League.

It’s always a balance of investing in infrastructure to get success and then that infrastructure giving pay back over time. The larger stadium will be a major asset in the Premier League but, potentially, a liability only if we end up back in the Championship.

One issue missing from this debate is the fact that the club does very little promotion (understandably, given the fact the league regularly sells out.) There are no billboards advertising cup games, Filbert doesn't visit the schools to drum up support for special school deals etc. In all honesty, the question seems to be: Can the the club fill a 40,000 stadium with no promotion whatsoever? The answer, for the Premier League, is Yes. But if the club actually did any work other than Twitter and other social media, it probably wouldn't have a problem filling 48-50,000.

I know naff all about Dutch football. How does their top league stand up against ours?

It’s a bit like Scottish football only the fans don’t throw glass bottles at each other and the fans are blonde not ginger.. Is it just me or this week really dragging on. Surely it’s Wednesday by now 😤

Ajax dominate and are capable of high level play. There are four other sides who are regularly above mid table but PSV have broken away from that mini pack and are closest challengers to Ajax, with a current gap of just 4 points.

While Ajax are a special club, adept at nurturing and producing talent with a style of play trained into them the whole way. Ajax are also good at holding onto their players, if it's clear a player has broken the mold and is too good for the League they often still get a season or so extra out of them which helps them in the Champions League.

The other 4 challengers; PSV, Feyernord, Alkmaar and Twente are established teams and have been competitive for a while.  They're also adept at nurturing talent but aren't as secure as Ajax, so have to sell players sooner than their peak. It doesn't stop them being very good sides but there's a reason Ajax have won 7 of the last 10 Leagues and haven't finished outside the top 2 in that time.

PSV's squad seems well balanced in its composition. A mix of homegrown, with some star talents thrown it like Bruma, Van Ginkel and Zahavi. While they also have potential talents like Mandueke who they've acquired shrewdly.

Dutch fans are very passionate about supporting their teams, should be 90% lads in the 18-34 range visiting. Expect PSV to be quite loud for the ~1500 allocation.

...Daka only if Maddison plays Inside Right and takes up a position close to Daka!!!

We are going to be matching up with PSV and we need to play Daka into space and breaking quickly.

I’ve going into the same turnstile recently since  Rennes home and this has also combine with a new pre match pub for a single pint of Guinness before kick off for European games.

Will be doing the same on Thursday and a good two goal win
