I don't rate Tarkowski at all and certainly wouldn't want him here, even for free. At lot of people didn't rate Jonny Evans or want him. Big difference between Taekowski and Vesterguard is one is free and the other cost 13m. If we are doing a summer rebuild selling a 3rd choice Soyuncu for 25-30m and being in a Tarkowski for free 3rd choice seems decent business. However can see him going Newcastle. 1
davieG Posted 6 April 2022 Posted 6 April 2022 https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/everton-blues-must-avoid-jannik-vestergaard/ Everton: Blues must avoid Jannik Vestergaard ByDavid ComerfordPosted on 5 April 2022, 18:10 Everton: Blues must avoid Jannik Vestergaard -Everton News Listen to this article 0:00 / 3:09 Everton must not pursue their reported move for Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard. This article is part of The Transfer Tavern’s The Gossip series, where we analyse players and managers based on praise and criticism from past and present. Football Insider report that Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell is very much an admirer of Vestergaard. He apparently tried to sign the Dane during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and launched a fresh scouting mission during the recent international break. Thelwell and his recruitment team believe he could be an asset to the club because of his ‘aerial dominance’ and experience in the Premier League, but there’s reason to question that assessment. 1 of 10 FORMER PLAYER UNDERWHELMED Last summer, amid links to Tottenham Hotspur, former PL midfielder Rob Lee admitted that he was unconvinced by Vestergaard and urged the Lilywhites to think twice about a move (via Football Fan Cast). He questioned the consistency of the centre-back’s performances: “I’ve seen him play well, seen him play badly, so I wouldn’t go breaking the bank for him,” he said. “I’d go and break the bank for Danny Ings, but for Vestergaard, no, not really. He’s not Virgil van Dijk, is he?” SHOULD EVERTON SIGN VESTERGAARD? STRONG CRITICISM FROM JOURNALISTS In the end, it was Leicester City that snapped him up, but some journalists believe the move has proven to be a mistake. For example, Josh Bunting of the Islington Gazette has called it a ‘poor’ signing that ‘hasn’t worked at all’, while Zach Lowy regards him as ‘one of the biggest flops’ of the summer transfer window. Lowy also believes that the 6 foot 6 Vestergaard isn’t as dominant as he ought to be – he labelled him ‘about as imposing in the air as a macaroni penguin’. The numbers support this too, as the Denmark international ranks eighth for winning aerial duels in the Foxes squad, despite being by far their tallest player (Whoscored). TACTICAL CONCERNS What’s more, Vestergaard may not be the best fit for Frank Lampard’s system at Goodison Park. The manager has looked to be aggressive, playing the kind of high line Rodgers employs at Leicester, but BBC Sport writer Raj Chohan has observed that the Foxes look ‘so much’ more vulnerable when they ask Vestergaard to push up the pitch. And The Athletic’s Rob Tanner has noted that the 29-year-old may simply be better suited to playing deeper. Based on these verdicts, it looks like moving for Vestergaard could be a costly mistake for the Toffees, who already have a number of flops at centre-back with Jamie Carragher branding them a ‘Championship back four‘.
surrifox Posted 6 April 2022 Posted 6 April 2022 Bill Kenright was quoted in an interview early in the season that he had been told by the CEO of one of the big 6 that when his Club faced an issue he always asked himself " what would Everton do?" to find the solution. Well the answer must be " back Kev Thelwell to the hilt and let him sign whoever he wants" 2
MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 7 April 2022 Posted 7 April 2022 I can't imagine the Sven-like buying spree Everton will do if they go down. They will lose a ton of players, and will need to prove to their fans that they are intent on getting promoted immediately. They will pay premium prices for mediocre players. Picking up Lurch for £10 million is exactly the sort of business they would do in that situation. 1

Jattdogg Posted 8 April 2022 Posted 8 April 2022 Can't see this happening. Hope they get the deal over the line though.
MPH Posted 8 April 2022 Author Posted 8 April 2022 Someone get a Jedi master down to Bill Kenwright! ” this is the defender you’ve been looking for!” 1
Vlad the Fox Posted 8 April 2022 Posted 8 April 2022 (edited) Was listening to the football ramble and a everton reporter claimed that financially everton will be screwed if they go down. They could be in big trouble, another sunderland. Edited 8 April 2022 by Vlad the Fox

As you have said, if he is unable to play a highline then it will be a pointless exercise to bring him in. There are other players out there who could come in and do a good job for us, but with Fofana in place, a player who is eager to go forward and loves to anticipate and step in to win the ball, you need someone who can sit in and allow Fofana tp play his way or another CB capable of reading the game well enough, and just as quick as Fofana. Chris Richards, 22 years old(on loan at present to Hoffenheim) T/Market says £6.75m, would be my shout. Sven Botman (22 years old, halfway through his contract at Lille) T/Market says £27m is a good alternative. 1

Funnily enough I pointed out Evans to my son just before the kick off of the game on Thursday when both teams stand in a line. Several of our players were moving/fidgeting about either gently stretching or, more likely, nervously anticipating the game. Except for Evans that is who just stood there calmly, almost motionless with his hands behind his back. He'd seen it all before and it wasn't in the slightest getting to him. His subsequent performance mirrored the same, we've missed him badly. He was an influence next to Maguire, then Soyuncu and now Fofana, he helps bring the talent out in all of them for me. Evans is not exactly a speedster but is able to play a high line because of his experience and exceptional reading of the game. Vestergaard and even our own Huth and Morgan were experienced and valuable assets but doubtful performers with a high line, they just couldn't get back despite being mostly calm. Tarkowski plays well in a team that has a particular style of defending more reminiscent of our 2015/6 side than our current set up. As calm and experienced as he may be, just like Morgan and Huth, would he be up to our current tactics. Would Rodgers have been able to gauge this or would we just be winging it? Whether free or not, if he can't, there's no point unless Rodgers would be willing to change tactics should Tarkowski play but he doesn't to incorporate Vestergaard. The two you mention are interesting but I don't know anything about them tbh. Edited 9 April 2022 by volpeazzurro 2

fuchsntf Posted 9 April 2022 Posted 9 April 2022 I reckon if we have this Summer to work on Vesti, he would Pick up his PL/cup performances... He s a more than decent Danish international and at Leicester not really slotted into our style...but he had no one to pair with, with the whole Backline, being in & out..He was never going to be the great saviour. I want both Amartey & Soyu to stay...Amartey to Cover the Whole B.line & DM & he will get gametime.. Soyu I still see him upping/rekindling his performances & making a future strong pairing with Fofana. If we could Pick up a Top CB ( somewhere between Fofana -Soyu level,or better) Then Vesti at the moment would be the one I would move on... Then concentrate on someone like Nelson & other from the Academy to support & push into the First team.. 2

The Merseysiders’ new-look recruitment team are prioritising the capture of a dominant centre-back following a series of wretched defensive performances this term. The Denmark international was watched by a senior Goodison scout while playing for his country in their 3-0 win over Serbia on Tuesday night. Vestergaard, 29, played the full 90 minutes of a match that will be fondly remembered for Christian Eriksen scoring and captaining his side to a win at the Copenhagen stadium where he suffered a cardiac arrest last summer. Vestergaard joined Leicester from Southampton last summer for a fee of around £15million Good!!
