MPH Posted 1 April 2022 Posted 1 April 2022 (edited) Crikey. https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-everton-plotting-move-for-jannik-vestergaard-after-midweek-transfer-mission/ Sources: Everton plotting move for Jannik Vestergaard after midweek transfer mission Everton are plotting a summer move for Leicester City star Jannik Vestergaard, Football Insider can exclusively reveal. The Merseysiders’ new-look recruitment team are prioritising the capture of a dominant centre-back following a series of wretched defensive performances this term. The Denmark international was watched by a senior Goodison scout while playing for his country in their 3-0 win over Serbia on Tuesday night. Vestergaard, 29, played the full 90 minutes of a match that will be fondly remembered for Christian Eriksen scoring and captaining his side to a win at the Copenhagen stadium where he suffered a cardiac arrest last summer. Vestergaard joined Leicester from Southampton last summer for a fee of around £15million Edited 1 April 2022 by MPH 1

Nalis Posted 1 April 2022 Posted 1 April 2022 Feel like Everton's transfer strategy in the past few years is a bit like when one of your mates gets your FM save and fvcks it over for a laugh. 1 2
iancognito Posted 1 April 2022 Posted 1 April 2022 Ironic they have to scout him internationally because he's usually so poor he can't get a kick here. Normally an alarm bell for most clubs.

Not an obsession but a proven premier league defender for zero pounds to be back up (cus let’s face it with our injury record we need back up cb’s) would allow funds to be spent elsewhere in the squad. 2

Keep reading on Burnley forum and twitter that Tarkowski needs Ben Mee to talk to while defending or he plays s*** like this season. Just like Soyuncu needs Evans......So do we have to sign Ben Mee aswell 1

What's the obsession with Tarkowski, he's no improvement on what we currently have. Yes, I wonder what the clammer is for him too? If we look at Vestergaard, as experienced and previously fairly decent as he could be, he's best when played in a particular way. If we'd expected Morgan, Huth, Elliott, Taggart or Walsh to play a high line, we'd reasonably expect them to struggle too, so despite the desperation, why buy him in the first place when Rodgers plays a particular way? Now somebody convince me that Tarkowski can play with a high line because there's nothing I've seen of him at Burnley to suggest that he'd be anymore comfortable. Evans is hardly swift but his reading of the game is excellent, I don't see that in Tarkowski either to be fair. 2

Take your point but Vestergaard was a "proven Premier League defender". I don't rate Tarkowski at all and certainly wouldn't want him here, even for free. 2
