Quick question for people. Are ON trainers worth the money? Or is there another brand you would recommend. I'm not doing a massive amount of running at the minute, so they would also be used for decent distance walking.

I usually stick to Adidas due to friends working there, but I fancy a change.

Im no expert but I end up watching all sorts of shit on YouTube about different running shoes and I don’t think I’ve ever seen them mentioned as being up there with the best.

I feel like with ON, they look great but probably aren’t massively regarded as great running shoes but I might be wrong.

Spot on. Nice shoes; but I wouldn't pick them as running shoes.

16 miles today and finished by running around Braggy Park, **** me.

So there is pretty much no way I can keep doing my normal leg day in the gym if I keep this up. I did it on Thursdays, woke up this morning with my legs physically in spasm and couldn’t get off the shitter without being in pain.

Still stuck injured I am. Just when I think my left lower leg feels ok, any run on it really flares it up. Not ran for a week now, will give a gentle run tomorrow see what I'm fit enough to handle. Sick of it. Had to resort to swimming and cycling recently instead and it's not the same

Must have been in a good mood as decided to give Hastings High School Parkrun a second visit. Must be one of the more mentally draining Parkrun routes (well until 20th September when it returns to the old route).

Given the grass was like concrete compared to the mud bath before. I understandably shaved nearly a minute on my PB around there

I managed a 22.09 parkrun at Penrose near Helston while on holiday in Cornwall. It's a fast out and back route if anyone is down this way. All on tarmac and most of the way back is downhill.

Finishing August with 107km run in the month. Massively down on last three months where I was doing 220-270 each month. That was probably too much and led to my injury. I did one marathon too this month so that's a chunk of my running 😂

First run in a week this morning sticking to around 5k only for the recovery stage I'm at. Previously ten k or more flared my leg up again.

Did 5k in 22:07 which is good because I really wasn't pushing, was probably in 4th gear mostly. I'm pleased because I feel I could still do sub 20 and I've been worried my fitness/cardio was going down with not much running recently.

Praying my leg doesn't start throbbing again and I'm not off for another week 🤞

Crazy numbers to be fair, you are probably right about it contributing to your injury.

Yeah I only started in October last year, sometimes need to remember how far I've come in that time. Need to manage this injury as I'm still not exactly sure what it is.

Do need to start interval training very soon though especially with half marathon coming up in five weeks

First time trying out Vicky Park PR on Sat after abbey park was cancelled and wasn’t a fan, it’s a bit more of a mental battle doing lapped courses like that. Surprisingly hot too!

Got a few events lined up. Going to do Northampton half marathon next weekend, Leicester in Oct, Clowne in Chesterfield in Nov and then Brum the week before Xmas.

Need to then step up my training as doing a 30+ mile run in memory of my mum in March and never gone beyond 20 miles before. Will then use thst as a base for a marathon in April/May.

Had a few new bits of kit. Wife's got in to running a bit so she's had my year old Garmin and i've ordered a new one 😂😂😂

Which Garmin did you go for? I’ve got the Forerunner 965 as I wanted nav for running in new locations and haven’t ever used that function. So many out there it’s a minefield.

Only the 265 pal. Navigation would be ideal but feared i'd not use it as much as I think I would for the extra cost. That said I do have an appalling sense of direction but on the 265 the course needs to be pre-loaded for simple navigation.

I should definitely have gone for that one instead but they are great watches, haven’t regretted changing from an Apple Watch.

Running 22m tomorrow which is the peak of my marathon training before I start to taper down.

Anyone else doing the Chester marathon on Oct 5th?

Oh wow, is it advised to lower the mileage that far out? In my marathon plan I’ll be doing up to 21 miles just over a week before.

Great North Run for me tomorrow. I’d taken this as part of my marathon plan but now it’s a here I want to see if I can get a PB. This is probably very stupid as I’ve been 8 mins at best off that pace this year, albeit without going out and aiming for it. Is this stupid?

I did 21 miles today in prep for Chester marathon too and that’ll be my longest run as well. From what I’ve read and been told 2-3 before weeks is the sweet spot for tapering though 👍🏻
