Don't get me wrong , he is terrible and The frustration is obvious particularly with the money we've paid him, but that's not his fault.

But he doesn't play because of lack of booing. He plays because we don't have a first choice keeper, one is only just back from injury and the other clearly has some issues. It's not lack booing that put him out there , mocking him on the pitch Is only going to contribute to him being a bag of nerves it's stupid. If your shi£ at work having your team and colleagues surround you point and jeering at you is only got to make you worse. Doing this shows a lack of intelligence and Self-Control

If you were as s£it at your job for as long as Ward you'd probably be sacked for gross misconduct. The guy cannot perform the main job of a goalkeeper which is to make saves. He's absolutely terrible at it. Other terrible gks are often defended with the line 'well hes a good shot stopper...' but you literally cannot say this about Ward its prob the worst part of his game and hes crap at everything else as well!!! This isnt cos hes unpopular or nervous, hes just inherently awful. Christ of the 4 shots he faced yesterday the only one he did save was after the fans turned on him! There is literally no excuse for playing him. Don't wanna play iverson for whatever reason than play the u21 keeper, the u 18, emergency loan... anything , a bloody mammal with a head! Just not him.

Disappointing to see from a few in the media that the biggest issue with Ward yesterday is that he was booed and not that he was actually being played again after the relegation season

Its because they don't understand the history and the sheer exasperation at seeing Danny Ward in goal for us in the Premier League again.  What was it Einstein said about the definition of stupidity being to expect different outcomes from the same action?

I have always been dead against booing our own players, but I'm fine with it this time.  Danny Ward has been far too comfortable in his warm bath of mediocrity, to coin a phrase and fully deserved an almighty kick up the arse from the fans.

You just know that Ward never thought he would play PL football again. I bet he was as gobsmacked as everyone when he was told to find his gloves half time against Newcastle.

And you just know that on Wednesday he will polish of the most expensive Turkey you can buy, sink about 3 bottles of expensive plonk, have a 6 pack of Stella and 2 christmas puddings, and hit the sack at about 3am after binging on some Netflix on his 130inch OLED tv. Then he gets the call from Ruud Thursday morning, telling him Mads missus demanded action all night and he's pulled the other bollock, 'so get yeeer best gloves on...'.

At least that might make him a bit bigger.

Sounds like a plan.

CANDLE IN THE WIND

Goodbye Danny Ward

Though I wish I’d never known you at all

You managed to stay motionless

While the opposition scored

And it seems to me you that you ‘kept’ goal

Like a candle in the wind

Never knowing what to do

As the goals rained in

And I wish I’d never known you

But Rudkin made sure I did

Your candle burned out long ago

You’re a bellend, let’s get rid

Step away from the Sherry sir.

My concern is Danny Ward appears to be liked amongst the squad members, despite his performances, and they'll be telling him how much of **** the fans are and it's not going to motivate them to improve. It shouldn't matter but if you think a mate is being hard done by it will effect your mindset.

All the more reason to hound the ownership for their inaction in clearing out the rot in our squad. I still have PTSD from a back line including Ward, Faes and Amartey embarrassing us for a full season, and 2/3 of them are now still getting regular minutes two years later.

The guy has the weakest wrist, that's if he ever gets a hand to owt, the first goal irrespective of the defending in front of him,  was shocking, he dived over the ball.

All were saveable. He cannot be defended.

Absolute spot on mads definitely saves all 3 goals

Our defence is terrible but Ward only faced 4 on target shots all game. None of them was amazingly well struck or perfectly placed. He let 3 of them in. None of our other players are as inherently bad as Ward and none are as culpable for relegating us 2 seasons ago. That is why there's a pile on. The lack of booing 2 years ago is partly responsible for him playing as often as he did. We can't let it happen again.

bare in mind hes only face 4 "saved" for shots the last 135mins(game and a half) and hes let in 6 goals, frankly that speaks volumes

I honestly dont know how anyone can feel sorry or remotely defend him after yesterday or what we've seen of him in the 22/23 season

Players hate fans in general. Hold us in absolute contempt because they'll hold on to memories when they've likely been deservedly criticised. Vardy and Drinkwater were terrible for it for a long time. They'll absolutely just think this is us being entitled.

The more I think of it, Ward is actually really lucky he hasn't had it a lot worse than this by now.

I hope Van Nistelrooy doesn't stick with him on the basis he thinks Ward can get back to form. Yesterday were prime examples of the problem from two years ago and the goals conceded. This isn't like Ian Walker from 20 years ago- a decent keeper going through an awful run- this is Danny Ward all the time.

There are alot of people over thinking this, the fans have rightly or wrongly made their minds up, and to be honest its backed up with plenty of evidence, there cannot be one person who cares for the club that thinks he is upto it, RVN should just sit him down and tell him the truth, he is a proffesional footballer earning millions per year, he can take it, and if truth be known he likely already knows he is not at the standard required as an LCFC goal keeper.  The club really should just settle what they owe him on his contract and allow him to leave, along with a few others who are not upto the job

Totally agree Well articulated in this Guardian piece:

Danny Ward had not started in the league for Leicester since March 2023 but was called upon to replace Mads Hermansen against Wolves. He never looked comfortable, making an early error with the ball at his feet and, once the first goal went under an arm, his day was not going to get any better. The goalkeeper has enjoyed an impressive career but a lack of regular football has affected him, leaving his reactions slow and confidence short. It cannot have helped the Wales international that his own supporters booed him and then sarcastically applauded when he did manage a simple save or to intercept an aimless ball over the top. Supporters have a right to express their views on the team’s performance but it must have hurt Ward to suffer such targeted criticism from those supposedly hoping he would save the next shot. He performed poorly, but there needs to be some recognition that footballers are human beings.

Not sure I agree with impressive career bit. Only 136 senior club matches at age 31 is not impressive.

Ward is a goalkeeper who doesn’t make saves (when it matters)

we’ve seen him make the odd amazing one when we’re several goals down before

but when the game is alive I can’t recall him making a save you think ‘wow wants a save’  (as mads does)
