He was signed to play as the left sided CM in a 433, the position he featured in multiple times at the start of the season. He was given a run of over 10 games as a starter to bed into the team and make an impact, which he did not make. He had one brilliant game away to Spartak Moscow, but that was about it.

Away to Southampton (a game he started), he was replaced by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at half time who took his place and kept it, because he did make an impact not only in that game but game after game, time and time again. We are selling Soumare because KDH beat him to that place in the team, which is why he was rewarded with a 5 year contract.

With regards to the statement: "we have a very poor manager incapable of coaching players to improvement." Here are some facts:

- James Justin signed from Luton Town, subsequently capped for England. One of the best full backs in the league before getting injured. Looked out of his depth prior to Rodgers coaching him.

- Wesley Fofana considered one of the best defenders under 23 in Europe. Clearly rates Rodgers as a coach as seen by his reaction after being supported by him after 6 months out after a horrendous injury.

- James Maddison turned from an out of form, out of confidence player into player of the season with the best G+A numbers of any English player in the league.

- Luke Thomas promoted to the first team, played in the FA Cup final, which we won.

- KDH loaned out to the Championship, challenged by Rodgers to prove himself first team worthy, which he did.

- Harvey Barnes had 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season.

- Etc, etc.

Rodgers has many flaws, but saying he is incapable of coaching players to improvement is factually wrong.

Absolutely agree Brendan. And for the record, I always vote ‘IN’ when the weekly polls go up on FT😉

The Soumare situation feels very much like Ndombele at Spurs.

Soumare looked good early on for us, in Pre Season he had some good performances, in early Europa League games he had some good performances, in the Premier League however, he’s never really got going. If I recall Ndombele had a hot start at Spurs, his form dramatically dropped off and Jose then froze him out. He got another shot, then his form deteriorated again, then they loaned him back to France.

Whether we loan him out or sell him, it seems Soumare could easily follow suit like Ndombele has and end up back in France.

If we do give him a second chance then he simply has to stop being lazy, he is one of the laziest players I’ve seen in a Leicester shirt, I’ve often referred to him as a World Class jogger. If he gets another shot and keeps doing what he’s doing, Brendan will freeze him out again and eventually it will be goodbye.

Agreed. It seems lazy to compare all french imports in the same way… but there is a bit of a learning curve. Ndombele, pepe, Thauvin, I mean you can’t even throw in pogba … they never settled and the only options are for them to leave. The french lads don’t seem to have that drive to fix things when they aren’t working…or at least it feels that way.

Id love for him to put in 100% effort in pre-season and force his way into the side.

You could even look at Mendy… who never seems to make a fuss about being dropped… it almost feels like he doesn’t care. Not many footballers would just shrug it off like him

Im sure there are some examples of players from there that turn it around but it feels like if they arent a success straight away they just want to go home... or is this just a terrible take on it?

There was an argument last week as to whether he cost £16m or £30m. Thanks to Col (just joking) he'll have cost £40m by Wednesday and be on £150ka week.

I’m sure the reports at the time were 30-35 mill

The point I’m making is that we’ve had our pants royally pulled down a lot of recent times in terms of transfer fees

Slimani c 30 mill, Soumare c25 mill, Vestie 15 mill, Perez (a lot!),

Both the players recruited and the fees we’ve paid haven’t been as prudent as they were under Walsh and Pearson for some time. It started with Ranieri’s second season in charge

Sky reported after the sale it was £17m, Transfer Markt says 18. However, reports in May were saying Lille wanted 25. So instead of letting Lille pull down our pants, we let them sweat until they dropped their price by over 30 percent.

Most of Pearson and Walsh's great recruitment were in the Championship, the other windows were for a regulation-bound yo-yo team. Sure that 2016 summer window was a disaster, but a team in the Championship two years earlier was headed to the Champions League, and the club wasn't prepared.

Since then, we haven't done that badly.

Slimani £27m?

Soumare £18m?

Perez £16m? absolute tops £30m

You've got us down as having spent £90m on three platyers when it ws something between £61m and £75m.

My figures could of course be wrong.

Whether it be 61, 75 or 90 mill… that’s still shocking business. Add to that list Silva, Musa, Vestergaard, Bertrand… seemingly Praet too..

What point are you trying to make? That we’ve done well in the transfer market over recent windows?

We’ve made a few decent signings but Christ, we’ve wasted some dough on bang average players

We’d established a reputation as being really canny when making signings (Mahrez, Kante). You can’t say that anymore about Leicester. The only real exception would be Fofana (of course).

Of course, that might not be something anyone wants to read. But it’s true.

The point is that we may have done some bad business but it’s not as bad as it’s getting painted with some of the figures being bandied around. At no point has/had anyone claimed we spent £35m on Perez, we may have spent less than half that on him.
Someone says ‘we may have’ or ‘I’ve heard that’ on here and next thing it’s being talked about as a fact. Someone claimed the other day that Soumare was turning up late for training. When I asked where this had come from there was no answer and it seems nobody else had heard it before.

We paid Perez’ release clause of £30m.

Post the receipt or it didn’t happen.

So we can just return him? Like a lost puppy we found at the side of the road?

“Boubakary Soumaré (23) visited the facilities of AS Monaco. The former Lille midfielder is the priority of the Principality club. The interest is mutual... The two clubs (Leicester and Monaco) are in negotiations.“

Ach shame if it happens but perhaps best for all concerned.

I think there is a player in Bouba but for some reason it hasn’t worked out and if the fee that is being rumoured about is true then 30/35million is a great deal.

I'd absolutely bite Monaco's hand off if they gave us 30/35m for Bouba.
