I think there is a player in Bouba but for some reason it hasn’t worked out and if the fee that is being rumoured about is true then 30/35million is a great deal.

....surely cannot be true, we only paid £18m last season, and things have clearly not worked out !!!

This is either inflation or something has gone wrong in the system. I see him as a quality player but for whatever reason, it has not worked out, but he could go elsewhere and put in another championship-winning season.

Monaco are in talks with Leicester City over a loan move for Boubakary Soumare.

It’s understood that the Ligue 1 side are pursuing Soumare and see him as an option to strengthen their midfield.

Still not convinced he’s going. He’s got ages on his contract, he’s clearly a talented player and plays in a position where Brendan likes to have multiple options. Unless he goes for more than we paid, I really don’t think the club are ready to jack him in, he was heavily scouted and the recruitment department really rate him, it’s down to Brendan to man manage him correctly.

...all this does is does is it takes some of wages off our books!!!

It doesn't benefit us in any other way and it will not resolve his position to fit in our team.

Wages off the book. £2 million loan fee and option to buy £13m won’t be bad

...posters saying that it is rumoured that a price of £30-35m is being banded around!!!

Hard to believe, but if true, £13m is not going to cut it.

I get that mate but look it in a positive light - save ££‘s in wages for a year, get a £2m loan fee AND £13m at the end of the loan when offset that against his what £18m fee that’s a relatively cheap gamble, which on this occasion didn’t come off.

Tell them to bollocks at this stage if it's only a loan. I don't see much merit in a loan with an obligation to buy either given they are wedged up to the tune of £100m from Real Madrid and the bastards had our kegs down on Ghezzal who they got on a free and sold to us for £12.5m a year later and doubled their money on Tielemans who a bit like us with Sounare, wanted him gone.

£15-20m straight permanent deal.

If the problem is not money, but number of players and wages that is stopping us improving the squad then I'd be in favour of a loan move. Hopefully he sorts his shit out and comes back a stronger player.

Bouba has had a v difficult year with some mental issues

Monaco will not want to buy a player who may have lost his way completely

hence a loan is likely to be the best we’ll get this year ….

Don't fool yourself, we keep making a loss each year. Of course money is a big consideration, loan deals are only advantageous if we either think it will improve him for us long term or because there's no alternative option in moving him on. I see little merit on loaning him back to France to improve him for English football, he's just won Ligue 1. It's more he's just not settled or adapted and I see teams like us in the PL get had over time and time again on deals like this.

We may make a loss but that's not unusual. Whats unusual is that we are only one of four European clubs without any debt along with Chelsea, man city and psg. Seen alot on here recently about club finance but I trust them to get it right

Agree monaco should cough up tho. The guys stock should still be high in France really

Had a feeling this could go the way like Ndombele at Spurs.

A player who quickly lost his way loaned back to France.

I’d rather we sell, sign Kouadio Kone as his replacement, so it can yet again be proven that I’m better than Martyn Glover.

...Rodgers saying he has personal problems does not necessarily mean there is a mental issue!!!

If we are sure we are not going to use him this coming season, then the loan helps our wages and is one body less in the registered squad. Should Soumare excel for them, it may push up his value, so this is in effect, a shop window for him. We do not have to insist on an option to buy or to try to tie Monaco down to any obligation to buy. This league might just be where he fits, and therefore there is more chance that he increases his reputation and also his price.

A loan, at this stage, doesn't really help but kicks the can down the road. If he is to be loaned for development, it needs to be to an English club.

Just sort a deal and cut your losses.
