Bordersfox Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 I was hoping the lad would come back and have a blinding second season. I know you can't read too much into pre-season games but his strolling around against Leuven seems to suggest that is unlikely. Surely it was his chance to prove to Rodgers that he'd learnt what is required effort wise to play for us. What's really annoying is when he does put in some effort you can see he's got attributes we could really use as a team. I still hope he comes good, however if we can recoup our losses now it'll be a win. 1

We want 20m. https://www.footmercato.net/a6947876957137959744-las-monaco-a-fait-une-premiere-offre-pour-boubakary-soumare After discussing a loan at the start, which was completely ruled out by Leicester, Monaco have made a first offer, according to our information. This amounts to 12 million euros, to which must be added bonuses which bring the whole thing up to around 15 million euros. The Foxes rejected this proposal, they who fixed the price of Soumaré at at least 20 million euros. Monaco, which sold Aurélien Tchouameni for more than 100 million euros to Real Madrid this summer and which therefore has cash, should quickly come back with a second offer. Maybe we can get some revenge on Monaco here after they lowballed us for Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani loan moves?! They have 100m so we know they can afford a fee. We brought him for £17m, so we are probably looking to get our money back on him and call it a day. Good signing for Monaco too. Tchhouameni was amazing for them and could be a future world star. He was a progressive midfielder who was tough and combative. Soumare's tackling stats in Ligue 1 were average, but his interceptions and progressive passes were right up there. You'd think he'd do a good job for them being back in France. Soumare seems like another player similar to Kramaric and Iborra who are good for other teams, but didn't do it for us. Praet might end up in that category too. 2
Devonfox1884 Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 Would be ideal for him and us if he can move on for the same amount we brought him in for. Hopefully the money could largely fund Colwill or a new winger, with Praet taking his midfield place in the squad for now.
StanSP Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 Would be happy if we could hold out for 20m Euros in the end.
LVFox Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 Wonder what the cost of Sangare from PSV would be? If it's around the same as we could get for Soumare it would be a great idea.
Dan Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 This is good news the fact they've put some money down for him. I expect this happens for £20mil which is an actual positive.

filbertway Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 Definite right for us to turn down the low offer. We do that, we're just letting teams know that we can be walked over. 20 million is absolutely fair for a player that has already shone in that league and is still very young.
MPH Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 We will probably end up with 25m from Praet and Soumarè but it will also be about 180k p/w off the wage bill which is pretty significant really..
st albans fox Posted 19 July 2022 Posted 19 July 2022 One of the issues with Bouba is that he isn’t a high earner comparatively. Around 60k. as has been noted, the wage is as relevant as the fee

I think Praet has been so under utilised - parts of the season where Youri was off form he would have been perfect. Something Rodgers doesnt like in him.. 3

I feel like we need to add something regarding Praet as well. Obviously we'd like him to stay. Praet , however, doesn't want to stay for various reasons. 2

The counterclaim is this is exactly what Praet has a problem doing i.e. playing second-fiddle Would you have been supportive of Praet being in front of Youri from the start of last season? If not, it's possible you 'like' him as about as much as Rodgers does.

True, but I bet he'd see the positives of staying, especially if Youri stays. Playing regularly with two other Belgian internationals. It might get him off the bench more.

Loan him out covering wages then sell him or play him. That's if he's not in our plans.

Loaning him out only seems wise if we expect his form to get better or his value to rise. That’s possible - but it also might be that we’re in exactly the same position next summer with too many players to get off the books. It’s not what we paid for Soumare - it’s what he’s currently worth to us? Is he going to make an impact this season? … or …. would we be stronger overall with money spent on a CB or a right winger? We might have to be a bit pragmatic here for the good of the squad overall Edited 19 July 2022 by Jobyfox 1
