Everyone else has strengthened... some clubs very significantly!!

Injuries will do for us again, and that started yesterday!  We have no depth!..

I expect a relegation battle this season.

All of that except the relegation battle. I think we’re going to be ok but it’s going to be a season of mixed results with a safe dull mid table spot.

Let’s see where we are after deadline day.

positives:

1. No European football

2 Daka, Soumare, Preat could come good

3. Ndiddi, Evans and JJ all fit

4. Potential emergence of Iverson (or Ward)

5.  Maddison needs to play his way into a World Cup squad

Liverpool barely signed anyone a year or so back and were amazing.

The club feels like it's in a bit of a mess if we're being completely honest. We have the 4th or 5th best paid manager in the league but are being told that we can't sign people due to the wage bill etc. If we're happy to be a midtable side we should sell our most valuable assets at peak times (now) and get in a manager on a wage more in line with our ambitions

No chance you’ll be in a relegation battle.  Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest, Brentford, Southampton, Leeds and Everton will all be behind you even if you have a disaster.

I think the problem for teams like you and West Ham is the top 6 is probably locked down. Is it worth spending much to improve the team when you’re probably chasing 7th?

There's a few assumptions and predictions of what could happen should they come true. Of the "assumptions" made, we know Kasper is leaving, Maddison handed in a request according to talksport radio, we know Tielemans wants to go, we know Vardy can't go on forever. Not sure what other assumptions I made.

I'm not having Maddison has handed in a transfer request. Talksport talking shite as usual!

Hard to believe that he is desperate to play with Chris Wood, Matt Targett, Dan Burn and Jonjo Shelvey.lol

Praet is like a new signing. As is having a few back from injury. Our problem isn't having quality players as we have plenty who are proven in the Premier League. Making no signings doesn't bother me at all. Look at last season's signings. They haven't exactly set the world on fire and are squad players.

If anything does annoy me it's Youri... Disrespectful. We turned his career around and he comes out and basically says I'm not signing a contract. Even Mahrez signed and we got a pay day. As a consequence I don't think anyone will be in for him, if they do it will be at the end of the window to force our hand. No wonder there appears to be some financial worries behind the scenes. I'd imagine there is a tangible fear other players will hold us to ransom as well.

This season is going to be about character for us. It's going to be about who actually wants to play for Leicester City. We have the quality, we have the depth but do we have the character?

I think as fans we need to get behind the owners, manager and the various teams behind the scenes.

The amount of BS our own fans spout, almost willing us to be in a poor position to have something to talk about.

I appreciate it's a football forum, why not bang on about the exciting talents we have in our team and how our manager is adamant they'll still be here come the start of the season rather than crying over hearsay from the media.

I really do hope so. But we will need top 6 this season or I expect he will want to move on to a club that can offer that. That's just a guess though.

I understand this, but we won't have exciting talents in our team for very long unless we move forward. Everyone around us has invested and look much stronger than last season, we look relatively poorer. We either progress or we lose them.

When have we ever done well when we have been expected to? Honestly I'll just go back through my lifetime but I'm sure others could go back further -

O'Neill -  no. Was hated to begin with. Signed unknowns who nobody expected anything of. Most successful period in ouri history until recently.

Taylor takes over and gets £30m to spend and we are expected to push on and disturb the European places. Crashed and burned.

Micky Adams. Predicted to struggle. Mid table at best with all the administration and money troubles. Star players potentially leaving. Promotion. When we went down under him we are favourites to win the league and he's gone after a few games and we finish bottom half.

Sven. Expected to romp the league. Disaster.

Season we won league under Pearson we'd just had the Deeney moment and certainly not signed anything like the players we did under Sven. No one expecting anything other than a disaster. Win the league with 100+ points.

The Premier League? Ranieri? Why?

Ironically closest I can remember anyone actually delivering what I thought they would is Rodgers.

Think we all need to calm down. He hasn't helped himself admittedly but we were all fuming after that FA Cup game.

Yeh maybe but we can't afford to lose him and Youri at the same time. Hopefully by next summer, the recruitment team will have identified replacements for our top players.

With all due respect the only people who know what is going on in the club are the ones in the club. Posters like yourself are jumping on every little rumour and snippet, without any justification. We haven't made signings which is fashionable in modern football, so everyone deems it as something is terribly wrong. Were easy targets in the media because people will happily click links about Leicesters fall for grace because we haven't made signings.

This is still a very good core group of players, no European football means we can go into each league game on a full weeks training which we didn't have the chance to do last year. As for other teams strengthening so what, games aren't won on paper, players still have to adapt and perform, our business is obviously going to be done later in the window with KS departure starting that off.

I really hope so, we really do need the global economy to pick itself back up again, unfortunately looks like it's going to get worse not better, which means less travel, and ultimately less money for KP.

Yes because players have a year less on their contract.

No because we don't have Justin and Fofana out injured long term.

Fitness is a huge deal this season. In previous years a few key injuries meant we could bring in cover, unfortunately the cover we brought in such as Bertrand/Vestergaard have been complete flops, this season if we end up with another injury crisis (which has been a theme of BR's career unfortunately) we won't have much firepower to address it. We can't afford injuries this season.

The next 12s are a massive opportunity, we know we need to buy well over the next 2 summers and we've got an incredibly long time to do it as well as being regulars pushing for European football on a fairly regular basis.

There's no doubt that we've got some work to do, but what an opportunity. Our most important task is to decide what we're looking for and start scouring leagues we can sign players from. We're in a position where 99% of footballers would want to play for us. We've just got to go out and find the value, something we've been capable of for nearly a decade now.

Admittedly, if we perform as badly in the next 2 windows as we have done generally under Rodgers tenure, then we're in for a fair few years of muck. There's plenty of opportunity there though.

We need to stop getting so obsessed with players though. Just because a player has done well for us doesn't mean they can't be replaced, especially given we're a top half team in the richest league in the world.

I wouldn’t call this “losing my shit” though if you’re referring to this post. Pessimistic maybe, but I just can’t see many positives at the moment.

We’ve had a pre season with some good results, some good signs regards certain players.

Three of players at the end of the season had signs of return back to their peaks; one of those, Maddison, at his Leicester peak. KDH hinting he’s ready to step up with more goals and assists. Barnes looking sharp too. We will field an accomplished defence on Sunday which rarely happened last year.

People are being clouded with noise of transfers doing 2+2=5. Reality hits Sunday, there’s a game to play and if we win, this forum will be a quieter place again until the next transfer rumour.

We’ve missed the boat this window but Glover for Saints identified some interesting players in the last couple of years who I’d fit with us; the likes of Livramento.

Meant to read unfashionable.

Yeah I'm with you now. I appreciate what you're saying, feeling rather pessimistic this season which is frustrating. We have been hit hard from the pandemic financially at a time we've spent hundreds of millions on facilities, we have to get this right before the end of the window, the last thing we now need is key injuries etc.
